Would be nice to see it towards the end of next year if they're that far along.

I must say I'm looking forward to this and if it remains a permanent PS5 exclusive it would be the one game that would make me buy a PS5 over a new Xbox.

Now it is finished FFXV is actually close to a masterpiece in worldbuilding and storytelling. I appreciate its not everyone's cup of tea but I really enjoyed the Ardyn DLC and it made a really good prologue to the game (that had been out for 5 years!) and actually explained a lot of the backstory really well.

Played in the order of Ardyn > Watch Kingsglaive > FFXV > DLC episodes when available in story > Watch Brotherhood during Noctis' imprisonment > Read Dawn of the Future book its a good story.

Its just a shame Square over-reached and needed to produce so much extra content, even after a decade of development.

They said the next big news will drop next year, so I don't think it's likely we'll get much substantial info for the rest of this year. Tho they did say a teaser site is planned soon. so hopefully some tidbits gets revealed there. I'd like to know the main characters name. He feels like a "K" person. Getting Kain/Kenneth vibes from him >,>

The last FF game i actually enjoyed playing was X, after that the series just got worse and worse.

I've seen you hate on the modern FF games for as long as I can remember, good to see you're still on brand here lol. Each to their own of course. There series has def taken a course that most older fans might find out of the norm for what makes a "traditional" FF. But I respect Square for trying things different.

Wish I could live in a world where patch 5.3 is considered bad FF content.

FF16 site has gone live.

https://na.finalfantasyxvi.com/

Stupendous art to get you in the mood. If they ever figure out a way to animate that art style... that'll be *my* FF.

At least he's in good company with Cecil.

Part of me kind of wanted them to go with the Shardbert meme name. strawberry floating Clive.

On the bright side, what's there for the kingdoms and what have you can lead to some interesting things. Only worry is if the plate's a bit over full with them. That's almost as many factions present in the MMO that's been through 5 different launches/expansions.

Feel like I wasn't far off with guessing the K part lol. I do like the ring to Clive tho. It's very reminiscent of older FF's which is a nice touch. Everything about XVI is just making me drool honestly. I can wait as long as it takes.

It'll probably grow on me as we get more info and realise it fits into the world better, or I just get used to it. But until then...

Clive...

Clive is actually a decent name when previous entries have had 3 main characters names after the weather, a French footballer and a mode of transportation used by tradespeople.

And let us never forget about Bartz.

Minor update, but Yoshi had a 14 hour FFXIV stream last night into today where he had Yoko Taro on as a guest. They got to chatting and Taro joked about wanting to be brought on as director for FFXVI.

To which Yoshi responded that they're wrapping up the voice recordings, and while we're still on track, don't expect anything at TGS as they're still polishing what they want to show. So looks like Game Awards is the likely update.

Further minor updates:

While Yoshi previously said they would not be showing off XVI at TGS, which was true, he had an interview with Final fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi about the appeal of RPGs and the future of the series.

Sounds like it's probably not too far off then. First half of next year would be nice (Towards summer) but I imagine it'll be closer to August/September time.

Looking forward to seeing more of it.

In my experience the things that give games and such a higher age rating are usually completely unnecessary things tagged on for no real reason
