Story
The world is ruled by the Divine Dragon Naga, with a fondness for humans,
and the Fell Dragon, Grima, destroyer of humans.

Prince Chrom of the Halidom of Ylisse and the Shepherds, his personal militia, find you collapsed without memory. They help you to your feet, so you join them on their journey.

The Risen, undead soldiers of unknown origin are plaguing the land. A mysterious warrior wields a second treasured Falchion, which should not even exist.
The neighboring theocracy of Plegia is populated by worshippers of the wicked dragon.
Are these troubling events connected somehow?

As you fight alongside Chrom and his Shepherds, you are pulled into a
major conflict that will change the world forever.

I am really tempted to pick up the American limited edition Fire Emblem system with this game next week. The wait for the Pal release is still a long way off :x

Me too, suzz. I've played about eight hours of the Japanese campaign, and even though I'm missing a lot in terms of story and characterisation I'm pretty certain this is going to be my GOTY 2013. It's beautiful, too.

How guide-worthy is the game Rudders? We're thinking of doing an unofficial one, but not sure how many people would need a guide for a game like this.

Fire Emblem will require a guide if you want to unlock all the characters.

Totally worth it. Deep strategy, plenty of potential combinations.

Must get back into and finish Shadow Dragon before this comes out.

How many hours do you reckon the game would take?

If you want to see absolutely everything, 100+ hours.

Cheers. Might have to wait for a GF author to do one first then.

Played this game from start to finish, I'm almost at 100% completing all the levels but there's a bunch of support chapters and relationships I haven't finished off yet or gotten to atleast A rank and there's still all the DLC.

This game has tons and tons and tons of content and had it not been for Bravely Default would have been my GOTY last year. By far one of the best SRPG games I've ever played.

I *loved* FE7 on the GBA, but didn't get into Shadow Dragon that much (such an ugly art style -_-) and never got around to trying other entries in the series. Definitely picking this one up, it's been too long!

StayDead, you can talk about the Japanese Super Famicom version here if you like, I don't think anyone else has it? I have the cartridge but it remains unplayed :dread:

I'm quite torn over what to do with this. I've not bought a full price game for ages, but every previous Fire Emblem game seems to go for ridiculous prices on Ebay. How long do they usually last until retail? Even if I buy it at release, it will probably sit on a shelf until the end of the year.

ITT Fire Emblem General:

You have the cartidge Suzz? Got a photo? Super jelly. :o

Also, am I just weird or was Sacred Stones pretty odd/not as fleshed out as a lot of the other FE titles? I find bar a few characters the game to be pretty weak.

That's Shadow Dragon isn't it? Give it a go and see what you think about it.

I personally prefer this one (Awakening) as for my reasons stated above, but it's still a damn good game.

Nah, it's Scared stones. Shadow Dragon's on DS which is basically remake of original on NES.

There's a fan translation going of the second DS game I think? The one that never made it out of Japan because Shadow Dragon didn't do as well as expected?*

* I might have just imagined all this.

I've played some of the first Fire Emblem on the Gamecube (or was there only one on Gamecube?), but Shadow Dragon on DS is the only one I've completed, which I really enjoyed. Prefer Advance Wars though. Intelligent Systems are one of my favourite devs.
