Welcome. To the remaster of Fire Emblem Gaiden. One of the most frustrating games in existance and in my opinion likely the hardest game I've ever played. It's back baby!

Graphics Comparison:

Gaiden:

Echoes:

The continent of Valentia was once divided between the Earth Goddess Mila and the Dark God Duma, siblings who split up and formed rival nations devoted to worshiping them: Mila's nation of Zofia, and Duma's nation of Rigel. The two deities, who each held extreme viewpoints on the world, ended up corrupting their subjects, and Zofia was eventually swallowed in a war triggered when its military leader, General Desaix, attempted a coup d'état. Rigel's ruler King Rudolf used this opportunity to lead Rigel's armies across Valentia in an attempt to destroy both deities. The game follows two protagonists, lifelong friends and adopted siblings Alm and Celica, as they lead armies for two different issues that share a common starter.

Some of the interesting changes from Gaiden that if they bring over to here will be very new for you all!

Healing costs health to use, but healers also get an attack which saps health from enemies.
Spells are learnt through levelling up the character, but like healing spells will damage the user. Non healers can't sap health.
There are dungeons.
There are enemies that can summon up to 7 enemies at a time.
It added a class tree system.
You control two separate armies for most of the game on different parts of the map.
Units have weapons by default and you only have to equip secondary special weapons, these never break..
There are shrines you have to go to to change class, there are no seals.

I've seen people say this is the Zelda 2 of the Fire Emblem franchise. Not sure if I'm looking forward to it.

Also, will someone for the love of god explain the difference between "there is" and "there are" to StayDead? :dread:

I edited all those mentions.

It very much is the Zelda 2 of the franchise. It tries a lot of things differently. Super hyped for the remake though! Hopefully it's far less bullshit.

I'll probably pick this up. Just got Nah in Awakening, so I'm a fair bit behind. Will this have all the marriage and special abilities stuff that I don't really understand?

If it's a direct remake of 2, there'll be no support at all. That was introduced I think in 4.

It's not a direct remake. It's 'inspired by' Fire Emblem Gaiden.

I'll be very disappointed if they don't keep the systems that made Gaiden what it was if I'm honest.

Think I'll skip that, looks like it'll be hideously expensive

I can't really justify spending out on it.

Pre-ordered :fp: :toot: .

I'm totally laying the blame upon BAKA ;) .

That's stupidly quick. It has sold out at ShopTo as well.

Nintendo and their production runs :fp: . It's as if they don't want to actually sell stuff  .

Any reviews of the English version out there, yet? I'm wondering about the difficulty because Fates: Conquest was an absolute banana split of a game to get through. No easy version this time 'round. Glad that there isn't any relationship/waifu gooseberry fool in this one. though.

Nope, not yet. Plenty of previews though.

The season pass has dampened my enthusiasm a lot, so not sure about this one yet. I'm guessing this will be quite difficult though, as the original was and I suppose it would convince more people to get the DLC.
