There's a bit more of a need to upgrade your weapons and gooseberry fool in this one. My troops were really ineffectual in the last story mission. My archers carried the whole mission.

Oh and I'm a bit pissed. Character plot death, after I just master sealed.

And I really regret playing this on casual.

Can you access the convoy from the castle?

Some of the paralogue's are insane. Ryoma's son kept dying in one turn, so I literally had to pair Jacob up with a rider so he can rescue him, then use Sakura to pull him closer to the group and then sing to Sakura so she can rescue Jacob too. Rescue seems to be pretty rare, so hopefully I don't need to use it until it restocks. It's far more challenging strategically than Awakening. One chapter had enemies endlessly spewing from a bog until I killed the boss, and I got massively swarmed. Luckily they had poor accuracy and Ryoma kills everything in one move that looks in his direction. I'd be lost without Ryoma. I've stopped on Chapter 23 (I think it's all coming to an end ) in order build up relationships and finish the paralogues, but I'm actually dreading how hard Conquest must be, Birthright has been far more of a challenge than I was expecting. At least the paralogues, the main campaign hasn't been anywhere near as tough.

You playing it on hard? You're going to need to grind if you want to finish the endgame without losing anyone.

Normal, on Classic, but I am guilty of a few resets. I gather the paralogues scale to the level you are, so that's possibly why I'm finding them more of a challenge than the main campaign, I left them all until quite late.

One cool thing I noticed as Raijinto was tanking a lot of enemies, his armour started to gradually break. I hadn't noticed that before.

Ryoma is another character who is ridiculously powerful. My avatar absolutely sucks in comparison to him and Kagumi.

I spent an nearly hour on chapter 9 only for Setsuna to fall to a pair of knights as I got greedy trying to take them down quickly :(

I feel your pain. Twice I have been three or four enemies away from completing a level when the enemy has scored a critical hit on 1-2% killing one of my team :x

They also have the DLC versions of the games for under 15 quid. Cheaper than the £17.99 on the Nintendo Store.

Up to chapter 21. The Poisonous woods level is still the best level. I really enjoyed that one.

strawberry float, I need to grind. My avatar just got one shotted on a goddamn normal battle.

Bought Conquest from Shopto. Really painless experience. The most annoying part was finding out where to activate the code for it in game.

I literally had the same issue, I wasn't sure where to put the code. I assume ShopTo don't list where as it will differ per game.

I'm up to Chapter 27 now. It's interesting to see a few enemies that will no doubt be friends when I come to start my Conquest run. I'll be giving it a bit of a break though, because Birthright has taken 30ish hours so far, and I imagine Conquest will potentially take more, if it's a bit more difficult. Finally figured out how to level the couple of units I hadn't really touched (Mozu and Hayato), and who did zero damage to enemies at my current level. I literally didn't bother with the Scout option at all, because I always seemed to have challenges open, didn't realise that you could scout for lower level maps. I'll open the last few paralogues and then finish up with Birthright, finally.

Mozu is pretty good. I paired her off with Hayato actually, I'm not really sold on him.

Currently grinding my troops, as Setsuna, Ryoma and Kagumi are pretty much carrying my entire team. How many times can you Master Seal in this?

Just once, I think (possibly character and class dependent - for me Ryoma's could only use it once, perhaps he was a promoted class already though), but there's an Eternal Seal that adds 5 levels to your current class. I'm not sure if you can keep using Eternal Seals or not.

One thing I think Birthright is really lacking in is the Mage department. I'm hoping Conquest will give us a few decent mages, with tomes rather than animal spit. None of them are as cool as Tharja. :(

My avatar married her and she threatened to kill him in his sleep

Finally finished Birthright. Completed all the Paralogues, recruited all the children. Overall I enjoyed the game a lot, mechanically and technically better than Awakening, but the characters, story and script were all a bit lacking in comparison. Saying that there are a lot of unanswered questions, which I hope Conquest and Revelation will address, and perhaps I'll think more fondly of those aspects of the game after playing them. Takumi and Ryoma were the absolute powerhouses all the way through for me. I LOVED the nod to Tharja with one of the children. The last two chapters being linked with no way to save between is more daunting than it actually was. The last chapter was very similar Awakening's, finish it quickly or get swamped with reinforcements. I did it in one turn, after seeing what the Dragon Veins did next to the boss. :dread: Definitely worth the investment for me (40+ hours), even if I hadn't picked up the SE I would go and buy Conquest now after finishing Birthright. It's an interesting companion to Awakening, improving on many of the issues Awakening had, but sadly faltering in other areas that Awakening excelled.

Going to give it a break before starting Conquest, but looking forward to it.

Also beat Birthright. The story and characters are indeed weak when compared to Awakening, not that the story in that game was anything to write home about. But then, it might be better having played all three of the versions. The gameplay is way more balanced though, even though it does have its own balancing problems, your archery based characters are insane death machines in this. Overall, really enjoyed the game, it took its time getting its hooks into me, but when it did, it was glorious.

8/10

Slowly working my way through Conquest. Managing about a mission a night in bed before I fall asleep. Usually someone dies and I restart the same mission the next night :slol: Gonna last me all year, this game.
