I'm exactly the same. Playing one mission a day does allow you to access the castle twice (once before and once after) for each mission.

Powering through conquest whichis getting really strawberry floating difficult now. WWasplaying the ship ambush level for the past hour at least. Restarted a couple of times because things didn't pan out as I had hoped or I got unlucky with misses. Finally I got places and was down to the last 3 enemies, absolutely cruising to the finish when that strawberry floating joker Arthur died on me in one hit, from full health to zero, right at the end of a match. Over an hour of playtime gone. 3DS flying across the room at 2am. Restart. Do it again tomorrow. Arthur will not be joining the battle again.

Birthright is a definite step up from Awakening in terms of difficulty. Look forward to starting Conquest, although I will probably wimp out and play with perma death off.

Conquest chapter 23 can go strawberry float ITSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been on it for days, now. Got close many times and then one-shotted outta nowhere on strawberry float you % by one of the last enemies.

ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT.

I've heard this ridiculous difficulty spike which started around Chapter 19 eases somewhat from Chapter 25 until the end so I cannot wait for that. I'm also looking forward to breezing through Birthright at a more relaxed pace without all this frustration.

I didn't think it got that much easier, I'm stuck on the second half of the final chapter at the moment. You'll find birthright a breeze in comparison.

strawberry float OFF banana spliting CHAPTER.

Man, I'm strawberry floating sick of it now. Night after night of having my top guys killed randomly from enemies that I previously had no problem killing. The more I play it the worse I'm getting at it . This game is strawberry floating rigged.

Finally beat this chapter 26!

Hours or my life. HOURS. I got killed by the rushing guys in the bottom room so many times. Ended up backtracking all the way to the starting room and luring them in as a close group and then lay waste to them. Took 31 turns

I need to get back on Conquest, tempted to switch the difficulty back to normal as hard is just no fun when you are resetting a stage 20 times.

So rage resetting is what everyone does in this instead of actually honouring permadeath? That makes me feel better.

I haven't finished Awakening yet though.

I only let me team die if they're a nobody I don't give a gooseberry fool about or on the final chapter because who cares.

strawberry float this final chapter, btw. First part was piss easy and the second is rock hard. With no saving in-between. :dread: I can see almost my entire team being wiped out before I deal the final blow. strawberry float having the spend 15 minutes doing the ridiculously easy part 1 before you get to the real final battle. Hate when games do gooseberry fool like this.

Actually that final mission wasn't very difficult at all :slol: Got it second try and only lost two characters although they technically just retreated since they were story characters. Leo was killed by the wave where I forgot to put him behind something and Niles was downed by a bullshit critical from the final boss himself. Had him surrounded by 5 or 6 characters and chose Niles for the final blow even though there were much stronger people in the vicinity. :x. Put Shura in the spot where Niles perished and he finished the job.

What a journey it's been. 2 months full of anger and frustration and throwing the 3DS on the floor and at the wall on a weekly basis. And I wouldn't change a second of it.

Gonna fly through birthright next.

Watch out, I'm not sure "permadeath" is covered by Nintendo's manufacturer warranty.

No way am I playing Conquest on permadeath mode. I found Birthright hard enough.

But then I'm utterly rubbish at these games.

Chapter 16/17 of Revelations is a two parter where you can't save in the middle.

It has taken all afternoon to crawl through to the end, and with just the boss to defeat he gets a 1% critical hit and kills me.

strawberry float me, the 3DS would have gone through the window if that were me.

I'm on mission 10 of Birthright and it's a strawberry floating doddle compared to Conquest. Gonna make me some babies.

After 4 months, I finally got there today.

Image

The final time on the latter two is accurate but the Conquest playthrough in reality was definitely closer to something like 150 hours with all the restarts I had

In terms of gameplay - Conquest > Revelation > Birthright
Difficulty - Conquest >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Revelation >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Birthright
Story - Revelation >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Conquest > Birthright
Characters > Birthright > Conquest (Revelations includes both sets so it's unfair to rank it)

Overall I'd say Conquest is the better game if only for how varied the missions and mission objectives are. I just wish it wasn't so stupidly strawberry floating difficult!

I would like it if they gave the series a rest now for a little bit, maybe bring back Advance Wars or something. I'm all Fire Emblem'd out after this.

I started this last night. Wow! I'm hugely impressed by the graphical presentation; it really is excellent.

I've not really played many games of this type before; it's taking me a while to get my head around everything as there seems to be so many commands and approaches... but I'm enjoying it. I've just got through the point where you select which path you will take - I chose Birthright - and where the DLC can be purchased at Dragon's Gate. I may go for that as it's on sale from 14:00 today which I guess means it'll be a good time to pick it up.

However.... should I play (i.e. start) Fire Emblem Awakening before delving any further into this title? Would I "spoil" Awakening by playing Fates first?

Thanks in advance, Emblem fans :-).

Awakening has nothing to do with this. They're different stories, similar to all Final Fantasy games being separate. You can buy some DLC with Awakening characters in it, though.

Cool, thanks man (is it Chalkit? Christmas names...). I just wondered if the game age, style and mechanisms may mean that I'd be better off playing Awakening first. I *may* do that just so that Fates then appears as a "step up" after playing Awakening.

Just bear in mind unless you take the easy option, you'll never finish it.
I've done a jawa on this. The special edition is still at home waiting to be opened.
