Got mine last night. It's such an improvement over awakening. Tactics play a bigger part and I'm making a lot of clutch plays. Shame weapon degradation is gone but I blame awakening for that as I went through so many weapons in that just grinding.

This hasn't really grabbed me yet. It might be the setting, visual style and music that aren't really doing it for me.

It is very good though. No mistake about that.

This is excellent. The writing isn't all that (PoR is still the best in that respect) but the gameplay is excellent. Birthright alone has ironed out a lot of Awakenings flaws, I'm not just grinding, I'm only doing challenge maps as they appear naturally and playing the game normally, it's still challenging and the map design means you have to think about your moves, my uints never feel completely useless either, the game is much more balanced. The changes to support where pairing up is purely a defensive and stat boosting option with team attacks being exclusive to side-by-side support is also a great change that has fixed Awakenings biggest exploit where the entire game could be rolled over with pair ups.

Did Game keep spare copies in the event of copies getting lost or damaged in the post? Really shitty if they didn't, especially as it seemed to go back on sale at one point after release.

Indeed it was. Ordered back in March too.

I don't have enough blocks on my 3DS for the DLC either, so didn't want to have to get a new SD card on top of the games.

It's enough to make me say strawberry float it and skip the game entirely now, I'm that pissed off.

The guy said it would depend on stock coming in, so it's doubtful they kept any. It's extra annoying as I contacted them on Monday (1-2 days first class delivery) and they said to contact them later in the week, shortly after a second batch of orders were available on the site.

strawberry floating Game.

That's awful :(

I'm a lot further in now, have a few children, upgraded classes, etc, and loving it even more. There was however a really annoying bit in chapter 15, where a character will die if you're not relationship rank A with them, which is really shitty, especially on classic. I hope there are no more bits like that. Some of the stuff that happens in Private Quarters is just weird. Blowing, rubbing, very strange conversations. I'm not quite sure if they've made the class upgrade system simpler or not, they seem to have done away with Second Seals, and you just use Master Seals, unless you want to change to your partners or a friends class. I turned one my Ninjas into a Mechanist and they ride a puppet dog and can clone themselves. Children don't just seem to be tied to female characters now, which is better. I didn't know that before I made my Corrin female though. Corrin feels more like a girls name anyway.

Oh man - that's a real disappointment, Jay. It'd be a shame if you were to miss out on the game; if you change your mind, Birthright (or Conquest) can be nabbed for £27.95 at The Game Collection.

I'll be keeping an eye on my bank account as they said it'd be an automatic refund if no extra copies can be located for me. It's just left me with such a horrible feeling about it all but once I'm a bit less angry about it I'll probably consider going for Birthright + DLC in the coming days and weeks.

Cheers for that link, mate. I've never used them before but that's a decent price and certainly beats the £35-40 I've seen elsewhere.

This still hasn't really grabbed me. I played for an hour last night, I don't know what it is. Put about 5 hours into already.

Mechanics wise, it is a clear improvement over Awakening. Units are definitely more balanced and useful.
I think this is more me than anything :(

So sorry to hear that, Jay. I was worried sick about it happening as I knew it was a case of once it's gone, it's probably gone for good.

No not just you, I feel the same. I'm just not feeling it, perhaps it is the split nature of the story.

It just clicked for me this morning! I think it was when I upgraded my first character (turned Hana into some kind of Samurai death machine). Also, that peasant girl you pick up, is she this games equilvalent of Donnel?

The boat level was strawberry floating class btw

Once again, that boob sister is the most creepy incestuous video game character that I can think of.

Oh and Takumi is a killing machine.

Takumi was the first character I upgraded and he's basically Death-incarnate at this point. Currently just enjoying the side game of Birthright, levelling up characters and getting them to promotion. The number of relationship possibilities certainly feels limited compared to Awakening - basically as a significant bunch are related. Only achieved one offspring so far (got my Avatar with the Maid).

Takumi is good but in hard mode he is a glass cannon who is unsafe against magic users. Ryoma, Hinoka and Kaden are the three best units outside of the avatar in hard mode if used correctly.

I refuse to use that Kaden fellow. He's a furry :dread:

Setsuna is also really good. I upgraded one of my ninja dudes into a mechanist. He rides a puppet thing now :datass:

I only have one child, but I have another paralogue available for Saizo's kid (that he had with Setsuna).

Something I learned yesterday that is worth noting. Once a unit reaches level 15 change their class and level them up 2-4 times (depending on the class) so they can learn new skills, once you hit level 20 you can't learn any more skills without buying that seal that increases your level cap by 5.

Over 20 hours in now. Enjoying the run through but still struggling to get relationships going, certainly lyrics not as easy as Awakening. The ability in Birthright to search for skirmishes does make training really easy though.
