Generally, when referring to whether or not something is in the public interest, they don't literally mean it as whether any members of the public will find it interesting.

Yeah, sometimes they mean "this will be a good way to sell papers".

I find it ironic that the public have preconceptions of what our patients get up to. They're pretty strawberry floating normal most of the time. It's the staff you need to worry about.

It's not illegal to be an escort and firefighters are allowed to take second jobs. She has a right to privacy, there's nothing wrong with her being an escort, but understandably she might want to keep her second line of work secret from family and friends. I think she'd have a good case for an invasion of privacy suit against the Sun.

Especially as now this has come out she will get a lot of gooseberry fool at work and most likely loose her job as something like this damages the public opinion of the service.

So can probably get a good few quid in loss of earning claims too.

They were given the number when they bought a SIM card from Vodafone 18 months ago.

So if your daughter, say, in a few years decided that she would work as an escort to pay her way through the University system you would be happy with that? And you would be happy with The Sun printing stories about her double life as a student and call girl?

just because the phrase something is interesting to the public does not classify it as 'public interest'.

Why would i be happy with that? That's a nonsensical hypothesis. Fortunately -my daughter will have me to help her pay her way through Uni. I said i have no sympathy for this woman because she chose to do that and naively thought that it wouldn't get found out. Unfortunately this type of story sells papers (to the twats who like reading about it). I dont read the sun and dont watch shows like Jeremy Kyle because i have no interest in the tawdriness of other people's lives. Is the story an invasion of her privacy - of course it is. But she's a public servant moonlighting as a prostitute so if it gets out it's going to be news. Thats how the tabloids work (the Sun in particular). Moaning about and expressing outrage at what they do is like moaning about the sun in the sky.
