I said she had a right to privacy and it's her choice to do what she's done - but let's get it right - She's chosen a highly controversial profession (particularly given she's a public servant) which, if she's discovered, would result in very negative perception from her employers and family. She has chosen to do it - not because she is desperate but because she wanted to clear her overdraft and have a better standard of living. Why is mine a horrible atttitude. Because i have no sympathy? If she wanted more money she could have gotten a different job but she has chosen to sell her body for a quick buck. I'm not saying i agree with the tabloid press and lurid gooseberry fool like this should not be newsworthy but it is. Always will be why rags like the sun exist to cater for the morons that read it.

You lot seem to think i approve that she's been caught and publically villified. Of course i'm not. I'm just not suprised or upset on her behalf as she has brought an awful lot of it on herself. If she was a nurse - she'd be at risk of being struck off. Zero sympathy for someone who wanted to make a few quid on the side sucking on cock.

I think what he's trying to say is that if she was a cleaner it wouldn't be a big deal.

This is bollocks. She hasn't brought any of it on herself, she's an escort girl: that's no impediment to how well she can be a firefighter. Unless she's been campaigning against prostitution or something similar then this is wholly unjustified.

Particularly now, as people realise the PCC is a toothless, utterly inadequate body that should be replaced by an organisation that actually regulates the media effectively rather than letting them print whatever they want without punishment.

"The public interest is not the same as what the public are interested in... there will be a lot of things that the public will be interested in that are not what we would call in the public interest. The public interest does not mean just satisfying the curiosity of the public."

I'm not looking down on her and would apply the same standard to it if she was a bloke. It's not mysogynistic to say i have no sympathy. I never said she was a worthless whore either - i simply said she should have known better. You need to stop missaplying values to me that dont exist.

As a public servant - you simply cannot afford to conduct yourself like this and expect to get away with it. Oh and yes - she has brought it on herself. She has chosen to do this - knowing full well that if found out she would be the subject of gossip, disapproval and consequences. It's her choice to do what she wants but it's also her responsibility to accept the consequences of it.

Yes the tabloids are scum and they should respect our privacy but if they think it will sell - they'll print it. Do i agree with it - of course not but that is how it is.

I dont have anything against sex workers and dont think they should be open to abuse (nor have i stated this). I simply stated that i have no sympathy for someone who chooses to do this and gets caught. Like i said - if she was a nurse she'd be struck off for it.

But we dont and we haven't changed how this newspaper operates because too many people lap up lurid stories like this. The sun is only giving people what they want. Changing the minds of all those people is the difficult (some would say impossible) part.

Of course i know what 'In the public interest means' I just subverted the meaning as that is exactly what the sun have done in this case.

This woman has a right to privacy as do we all but those rights are frequently breached at a moment's notice - in the name of 'news' or in other instances when it is convenient o do so.

Phrases like 'public interest', 'national interest', 'for security reasons', 'to protect our children' are just phrases that are used to justify the release or retention of information as seen fit.

To be honest I don't think I'd give a gooseberry fool if my MP was a prostitute. Then again he's a Lib dem so it would probably be more of a controversy that a Prostitute had been caught with a second job as a Lib Dem MP.

I haven't replied to this thread until now because I was optimistic enough about this board to believe it would quickly sink off the first page and disapear. 5 pages now. You have, in the main, disapointed me.

I was sort of hoping people would see this as the tabloid trash it is and let it sink.
