Firefox "unresponsive script" error message

For the past few weeks I keep getting this message when using Firefox on labour-intensive websites (such as loading in a lot of video or photos). Firefox will hang for around 30 seconds, "not responding" will appear in the header, and then this pops up:

Upon clicking continue it will then carry on as normal, although the more you load in the laggier everything becomes. I was just wondering if anyone could help in terms of what's causing it. Chrome is fine.

It could be Flash protected mode causing it.

If you hit Debug script you should be able to see what exactly is causing the problem. If it's across lots of different websites it's possible it's one of your addons causing the issue, in which case you can disable that addon.

Alternatively you may have some luck if you install the noscript addon, which will let you toggle which scripts are allowed to run on every page, and if you identify the problem there you can just block that specific script.

It's helpful because it stops your browser slowing to a crawl and eventually crashing, just try to diagnose what sites/parts cause it and you can block them using adblock or numerous other plugins
