I'm not sure about the "meh" reviews, speedboatchase. Metacritic indicates that, of the 18 reviews so far, 9 have been positive and 9 mixed. But, yes, I suspect the game would best suit fans of the series rather than newcomers.

But then it's no longer FotNS.

Got it for £20 thanks to a Game voucher and I've been playing through a few chapters and so far it's alright.
I have no idea of the Anime, so it just reminds me of Mad Max but even madder.
The combat feels really simple compared to Yakuza as enemies take a couple of hits and you can then do an ott move to end him in a bloody way.
Look forward to actually being let loose in the city and complete some of those mini games and sub stories.

Is this running on the Dragon Engine or is it running on the Yakuza Zero engine?

It's definitely not running on the Dragon/Yakuza 6 engine.

Played the demo and wasn't that fussed. Seems pretty clunky and like a basic Yakuza game. The fights were quite fun though.

Exploring the desert in the buggy is fun.
