Yo :)

Yeah been doing physio like that sorta thing since november-ish, a couple of months after my op. Pre-op I had physio to fix the mis-diagnosis I was given... my last session of physio ended with me trying to hop and collapsing on the floor... cue my physio woman saying "You're well on the way to recovery. Keep doing that".... so I went private and got a real diagnosis and surgery.... But yeah I can hop a lot better now. With the weakness in the ankle I have, if the worst happens and too much weight goes on it and too suddenly, my talus and fibula actually hit each other which explains the rather large amount of pain when it used to happen a lot :fp: . Lots of static exercises like pulling my toes towards my body while lying down, and trying to flatten my foot forwards while lying down to get those ligaments back into shape.

When I started my pre-op physio and tried to flatten my feet while lying down, my working ankle went all the way down obviously and my right ankle literally couldn't go more than half-way :fp: Slightly depressing.

But anyway - Yay for rehabilitation and hard work in the gym, and for amazing surgeons

I finally went swimming today. What's considered to be a good swimming work out?

I haven't been doing Cuban Pete's workout thing, because the week after I had surgery I started a pretty physical job, meaning I have no strength or will left in the evening to do even more workout. The swimming is good for my back, though, so I'm going to try and do that regularly. I just got back from my first session and I already feel better than usual.

Did a good chest/tricep workout last night. Need to get back onto the circuits though, whenever I go to the gym late in the evening it's all so easy to just call it off at the end.

My squats were very good today. The first time in a long while that I've actually been happy with them.

Anyone got any tips for tennis elbow? I overdid it at badminton yesterday and seem to have wound up with a slight case of it.

Bad session yesterday. I bumped the speed up on the treadmill and as a result had to stop 5 mins earlier than normal :x

Can anyone recommend a relatively affordable and good belt? I wouldn't even know where to start looking but I think I definitely need one.

You won't really get a good affordable belt tbh. What are your numbers just now?

I'm currently squatting ~85Kg and DL ~110Kg.

I can feel that I can easily squat more than that but I'm sticking to putting my squat up in about 1Kg or 1.5Kg increments as SS says as I got carried away earlier and got stuck fast and my form was a disaster.

Really shouldn't need a belt at those weights. Then again, I'm a fatty, so those weights are quite easy for me.

I don't think you need a belt yet tbh. But I have this one for £25: http://www.pullum-sports.co.uk/accessor ... od_20.html and I've squatted 180KG and deadlifted 190KG using it. It's a good affordable belt.

Yeah I'd hold off on the belt just now. Wait till you are deadlifting 2x bodyweight and squatting 1.5x I reckon.

Then buy a good quality belt that will last you a lifetime.

Thanks for the advice, chaps. I'll give it a miss, then.

I just had the idea in my head that lifting would be easier if there was something for my abs to contract against.

It would be easier but I think you should carry on without just now so you can build the ab strength needed for later on. I started using a belt too early and am suffering for it now as my abs are lacking in strength compared to the rest of my body.

Ran 400m in 1:29:90 yesterday afternoon. Not bad as I've only been running for a fortnight.
