Ignore the fact that you feel full and eat again in a few hours, even if it's something small.

The muscles can't tell the difference between a big weight and a small weight it can only tell how much work it needs to put in.

I would disagree with this. Your muscles will certainly react differently to heavy weight/low reps compared with light weight/high reps, which leads me to believe they can tell the difference (obviously not in a sentient sort of way but... you know what I mean). You say you were wasting your time going heavier but with poor form - what's to stop you from going slightly less heavy, keeping at five reps but with good form?

Edit - Cosmo, does this mean you're going back to the gym? I'll be heading down there for about half seven tonight.

Probably will do. Tomorrow I'm going to stock up on milk etc.

Good man.

I've noticed my stomach's getting ridiculously flabby just now. Know if I cut out my milk intake it would get really defined again but don't want to lose muscle mass elsewhere, dilemma indeed!

I've changed to tuna in sunflower oil - anyone tried this?

Lot's of mercury in Tuna. No advisable to eat it that regularly.

Wait, what? I eat 6 cans a week. I'm going to die aren't I?

Tuna in sunflower oil is absurdly tasty. Eat as much as you want and worry about the consequences later. 8-)

I eat tuna in brine (after I drain as much brine away as I can. I'm not totally insane) with salad cream. Tis lush.

I dunno. I was doing the 5x5 thing for months but I was only really improving with my squats. I'll just stick to this new thing for now. It would probably be best for me if I work my way back up anyway because I kept hurting myself lifting.

Yeah. I'd recommend a handful of nuts if you can't bring yourself to eat something more substantial.

Basically I have a freestanding frame outside, and on that a 35kg bag, but the bag just flies like a mummy strawberry floater, and even with the frame being weighted down by around 200kg, it still rocks about like a bitch, I either need to attach something to the bottom of my exsisting bag and to the bottom of the frame to stabalise the bag somewhat, or buy a new one with some kind of fixing to it, does that make sense?

Anyone?1

My muscles know the difference between 70kg and 180kg. Of course they do. Heavier weight works then harder. They obviously don't know the numercial value attatched to it but I can tell you they know the difference between a set of 10 at 70kg and a set of 10 at 180kg.

Unless I've completely missed the point here

Smolov W4D1
70 kg x 8
90 kg x 5
120 kg x 3
135 kg x 9
135 kg x 9
135 kg x 9
135 kg x 9

High rep sets absolutely kill me. Probably hardest day so far. That and I didn't do any mobility work beforehand so getting deep was a struggle. I'm going to keep posting my Smolov progress in here, hopefully no one minds.

I'm bad at explaining it. Basically instead of me killing myself doing 5 reps of something heavy I am going to instead try and kill myself doing 6-12 reps of something lighter. Either way the muscles get tired and lifting becomes harder for them. If anything I'm just trying something different to see if it works better for me.

I'm not the type of person who can explain it very well at all but I think the main difference is how heavy you lift affects how your muscles grow (which is obvious but not in the sense that more weight always means more muscle).

I'm just rambling really but I still think I'm better off working my way back up. Now when I bench I can actually get the bar down to my chest which I'm sure is an important thing and I don't get pains in my wrists when I lift.

Do any of you lot use some sort of DVD/Youtube program for Kettlebell workouts? I've just bought an 8kg, 12kg and 16kg set to use at home, would be good to follow some sort of routine.

10 Illegitimate Sons
20 minutes on the treadmill
10 more Illegitimate Sons
7 minutes on the Cross trainer. Was meant to be 10 but I whacked it on full resistance and couldn't hack it.
10 more Illegitimate Sons (couldn't jump back for the push up for the last three, had to step. Managed the tuck jump though).

My legs are sore.

They're a killer. You think "this isn't so bad" and then all of a sudden you're winded and can't seem to tuck your legs when you jump at number 9.

Then you're like "forget number 10." And the only reason you don't is you think "What Would Robbo Do?"

Anyone have any induction/getting started programs? I intend to go around 4 times a week.
