1. Nothing special to serve with Christmas dinner, but I do the best roast potatoes. Tons of rosemary and duck fat. Bit of semolina crisps them up real good.

2. Mini Chicago Town ones are alright for a snack. But it's much better to diy.

3. Add to tomato sauce, red pepper, onion and olive oil and make a spanish chicken sauce.

I've been pescetarian for almost a year and I'll probably give up fish in January as well.

What the hell do you do with these green things?

I'm worried about your health dude

Seriously though, good thread. I made some After Eight macaroons over the weekend, slightly undercooked them, but I'm happy with how they went, and I should be able to do nicer ones to take home for Christmas.

I also cooked a pizza for Mockmaster once:-

Nice. I hope to follow the same road one day. Perhaps. I went vegetarian for a year and a half ages ago but it didn't work - I mostly used it as an excuse to inflate my ego and to show off how idealist I was.

Did you actually like any meat when you used to eat it?

For Christmas?

The isn't specifically a Christmas food thread.

The quality of moderator on here has really declined. :fp:

Oh I know. But I was asking a question....

Would you eat that for Christmas?

Jeez, the quality of forum members on here has really declined.

Going back to the veggie thing, there is no way I could live without meat. Meat might be murder, but it is strawberry floating delicious murder. Steak is probably the king of all foods. So simple, yet so delicious. meat FTW

I find a nice rare duck breast to be the ultimate meat. It's like Steak X 10.

I know it isn't, as long as you eat good quality meat and don't eat it every meal, every day.

My two reasons for being vegetarian would be because I don't feel like eating something I wouldn't have the guts to kill myself; and because the industrialization of meat production means that living conditions for animals become less than ideal, and that some environmental concerns arise and I care about that because I'm a bit of a hippie at heart. Personally I don't care about the whole argument about humans aren't meant to eat meat, vegetarians grow less toxins and have better skin, blah blah blah crap. It's seeing meat production as an industry that puts me off meat.

But this isn't the vegetarian debate thread, sorry.

Had a mare with my tea last night.

We were going to go for tapas (BOGOF vouchers for La Tasca available on its website) but after a long Xmas shopping session, were both knackered and the sofa was calling. So we decided on a Chinese takeaway. Drove all the way home from town, past the point of no return for going anywhere else, and the bloody place was closed. Dunno wtf that's about.

Ended up with a Chinese meal for two from a bag from Morrisons. Poor, poor substitute.

What the strawberry float is a mare tea? Something to do with a horse?

That's fair enough, I have no qualms with any reason like that. It's the reason that "Meat is bad for you" that gets me just. Have a jolly vege christmas! :D

I have discovered the wonderful world of roast vegetables, so far it's been carrots, garlic, peppers, mini potatoes and onions. Can anybody recommend a decent addition to that list?
