Jeff's a powerful voice in Hartlepool. And it's fair enough, Hartlepool are having a terrible season, it's a results business and Jones wasn't getting the results.

On topic, I love Jeff (who doesn't?) but I'm not sure using his position on TV to vent his spleen like that was the wisest thing. Surely he could use his position as President to have a word off screen with the powers that be?
Football's an emotional business for a lot of people - I think you're right that it's poor form but from re-watching the rant it looks like he just lost it, rather than planning a Dave Jones out kind of thing. If anything, I wish Rovers had a voice like Jeff Stelling on TV.

One the the best things about Soccer Saturday is that they don't hide their allegiances and try and pretend to be neutral. If Jeff wants a rant then I think it's fair enough.

A rant is fair enough but it's completely out of order when it is specifically aimed at and has an impact on someone's livelihood.

Respect for Stelling has taken a hit.
-1 respec hon?
FWIW - I really enjoy Soccer Saturday and the fact they basically can say what they want and when they want. No problem with what Stelling said. Passionate fan in the heat of the moment speaking from his heart.

On the contrary, I would say they are doing a Villa - they've flirted with relegation for a few seasons now (they came really close to it two years ago and were saved only be a great escape), and they've had instability in the manager's seat, always changing once or twice a season and have had chronic under-funding in the boardroom.
I think it's great that the Soccer Saturday guys have free reign to air their bias and preferences and believe that, along with their general camaraderie, it is what makes the show so great.
The difference here is that Stelling holds a position at Hartlepool and that makes his outburst unprofessional.
It will be interesting to see if he issues an apology at any point next Saturday.
Check out my YouTube channel! One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.
I mean theres no doubt about it, if you go down from League 2, you really, REALLY deserve to go down. Only teams that basically have created an absence of football get the shame of being eradicated from the league. I can absolutely understand Stelling's anger.
Regards the Ched Evans news... It's kind of baffling. Looking at his record (the football one) he wasn't doing the business in League 1 last year (5 goals in 25 apps, apparently) so I can't imagine him faring any better in the Championship.
Guy should stick to hotel rooms.

Never liked Newcastle, but they deserve to go up for sure. Credit to Benitez as well, I'd wager that most other managers who've managed clubs at the level he has would never drop down to the Championship and work to make a top-flight return. Always liked him, glad to see him go up.

Agreed.
Hopefully Brighton lose this weekend but then win their last game to take the title.

For a split-second there I was all "...uh?" but then I got it.
I don't particularly like Newcastle as a club (scummy owner and all) but I do have a lot of love for Rafa so I'm pleased for him.
