Just so you know, you're not allowed to get a refund for Steele. It's surprising that someone actually wanted to pay money for him, let alone more than what we paid for him.

We replaced Pickford and Mannone with him. Four year contract too. :fp:

Fifteen minutes or so after the game today a story broke that we'd offered a contract to Robbin Ruiter, the trialist keeper who played our last couple of games. Huge vote of confidence for Steele there.

Who slagged him off?

You!

You laughed at the fact Bristol City are paying £4m for him then said he'd headbutt the ground and swallow his tongue in their first match.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

Also Celtic played plenty of first team players there. I mean, not too many but plenty.

He'll score a hat-trick at Villa Park.

Own goals probably.

Nice comfortable 1-0 win against Leicester today
We actually looked really really good, we still have Costa to come back aswell, and a striker or 2 to come in aswell

That's all well and good but the FFP restrictions you'll get next year for all the spending you've done will be a pain in the arse.

arent transfer fees spread across the lifetime of contract? so Neves cost £15million, 5 year contract, so £3m a year, so end of the season whenit comes to FFP itll only show £3m (depsite paying the £15m in full)
But hey, even if we dont go up, we can sell Costa, Neves, Cav for big profit and go again thanks to Uncle Jorge :slol:

Blackburn fans don't rate Steele then? Boro fans often blasted him, but you'd have some that would say he was a decent shot stopper and still young. He also had a mediocre defense in front of him.

For me, he could be great and then flap. Wasn't great with crosses either. Didn't seem to have much confidence either or command the back line.

His confidence went very quickly and there was no going back after that - he was overall very poor for us.

Yeah that's how the accounting works. profit is also then based on the book value if the player is sold, so he'd be in the books at £12m at end of year 1, £9m at end of year 2 etc

Why can't the Football League EFL stop tinkering with things?

Exactly 48hrs to the minute until the proper football season kicks off. Forest vs Millwall on Friday 7.45pm.

25K fans expected. New owners. New dugouts (at last). New turnstiles and season ticket card in place. Sense of optimism about how the club is being run after Fawaz and his meddling. Promising new signings and open, honest messages from the club with definite "look upwards not down" themes.

Bring. It. On.

Most betting sites have us way down the pecking order, strange given how decent we've looked in preseason. Think we might be in with a shout of playoffs this year if we can keep relatively injury free.

Watch us get thrashed by Millwall now.

I will be stunned if the close of the first day of the season doesn't see you at the top of the league and us in 23rd place.

I was thinking the other way round tbh!

I honestly think we'll be looking at mid table, somewhere 10th-15th at season end. Would love a playoffs push or even more, but am realistic that we can't turn the last few seasons round that much, that quickly. Think we'll do well at home again, but our away form will be patchy though Hopefully not as bad as last season.

You've bought some dross though haven't you? Barrie McKay and Jason Cummings?

Daryl Murphy is a great shout though - proven goalscorer in the league.
