Looks like the kid can't handle his drink. Lightweight.

I don't know. There's having a good time and then there's passing out drunk on the floor in the street.

He's paid thousands of pounds a week. He has a duty to look after himself and not put himself into situations like that.

I say this after having an absolute bender of a weekend. But then I'm not a professional sportsman.

It's harmless though. If it happened during the season it'd be a different story but he won't be playing a competitive match for ages and there doesn't seem to be any stories about him causing trouble or being abusive towards anyone. It's a non story of ever there was one.

Yeah, that's a bit embarrassing for anyone, let alone a paid professional.

Its all a bit boring now isn't i.He's young, he earns a good wage i bet and he has a very small time frame in the summer to go on holiday , have fun and enjoy himself before getting back and onto pre-season. As a professional player i bet he also doesn't drink as much as some people and so he probably can't take his alcohol that easily. Either way drinking a load and laying on the floor somewhere whilst on holiday isn't exactly a scandal.

If you are a club who has invested in an athlete I don't think it's unreasonable to expect them to not engage in harmful activity like heavy drinking.

It destroyed Michael Johnson for example

Depends i would say what is contractual and how much control a club would have on a player. As long as a player doesn't let it hinder how they play and there overall health then i don't think Villa can say much.

No professional footballer should be drinking that level of alcahol. Thats an obvious sacrifice you make for the sport.

Season is finished. No problem really, he's got pissed on holiday. Even professional athletes are allowed a life and to let loose a bit. There's so much worse he could do on holiday. Mountains out of molehills.

How do you know how much he has drunk?

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

He could be a massive lightweight, had 4 cans and passed out. Being as they don't really drink during the season, it could be he can't handle his beer. And ffs 19 years old. Give him a break. Sacrifice :fp:

My thoughts as well, i'm just waiting for the 'but he's a role model' crap line soon as well. That normally gets wheeled out whenever a pro-footballer does something silly but actually quite normal that many have done before.

Footballers are given a couple of weeks at the end of the season to wind down and go on holiday. I don't think it's a major issue that some of them drink during this time, as long as they're fit and ready to report back to training at the start of pre-season. I'd be more worried about the two fag packets lying next to him than the alcohol inside him.
