If you are counting the fairs cup then you might as well count the Emirates Cup.

The Sun are now reporting (though it's been rumoured for a day now) that a close friend of Allardyce's was involved in the Manchester incident this week, which would explain the sudden change of mind and departure as well as what was mentioned in his statement...

So many things are bigger than football, and that tends to be forgotten very easily :(

The last year must have been a painful one for Big Sam. Can't have been easy getting your dream job and losing it the way he did. Even though the FA did overreact by getting rid of him.

I can see why he'd pack it in as it's probably getting boring saving clubs from relegation especially after getting the England job. But you do have that feeling come January when a club is in trouble that he'd be back.

Marco Silva looks favourite for the Palace job. I'm sure Merson and Thompson can do a full analysis of him.

Why? Arsenal qualified for it via league position and it was the direct precursor to the UEFA Cup a couple of seasons later. You may as well say Spurs winning the first UEFA Cup means strawberry float all too at that rate. :?

There is actually quite a similarity in the trophies now you mention it...

The Fairs Cup does count, even if it did have silly entry rules. Tottenham never competed in the Fairs Cup because sending teams to White Hart Lane would bring in foreign aid not foreign trade.

I'm looking forward to the Europa League. I think we have a decent chance, and we can't get knocked out by Barcelona or Bayern! Plus the trophy is lovely.

Bayern to deliberately come third in their group just to knock Arsenal out

Bernardo Silva is in Manchester. Presumably to sign for City.

I did laugh at that one.

I didn't know much about it before looking it up yesterday although i had heard about it before. It was for most of it's existence essentially a friendly tournament although i believe when Arsenal won it was the teams that finished second in the league who entered. Prior to that it was competition between cities. A London XI played a Barcelona XI in the first final.

Supposedly they're signing Mendy too.

So I guess the plan is to just buy the team that knocked City out of the CL

West Ham have signed Zabaleta. I'm happy about this but I haven't seen him play for a while so there's a concern that he might have lost his legs at this latter stage of his career. Still, he brings much needed experience to a defence that has been shite for a while now.
