Not like it was just Arsenal fans thinking they had a chance this time. :fp:

They were truly dreadful last night.

Will Sanchez stay this summer? If someone like Bayern or Juventus actually do come calling he'll probably go.

Ozil is a big bag of rubbish. To think Arsenal fans think he's better than Couts. :fp:

He certainly is behaving like somebody who wants out.

Mark Clatternburg has left the premier league to referee in Saudi Arabia.

Ozil IS better in a normal game. He just melts on the big occassions into something thats akin to a non-league player.

You can't go comparing Coutinho to the biggest assist maker in Champions League history so flippantly when Coutinho hasn't won an awful lot yet.

Plus when Ozil's bad he's just not doing anything, when Coutinho is bad he's wasting possession with his useless long range shots.

How many of those assists were to Ronaldo who then dribbled past half the opponents team before scoring?

That's harsh.

I'm a big fan of Ronaldo. But any Man Utd fan will tell you that he changed his game from 2007 onwards. He wasn't really a great dribbler like Robben, Hazard or Messi. I mean he used to be really good then he started adding muscle to his body and turned into a pretty great poacher. So I don't buy this scenario where Ozil passed to him and he ran past 6 players.

I don't think Ozil should get the blame only. Any playmaker would look average when they got Iwobi and Chamberlain alongside them.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/feb/16/football-transfer-rumours-ronald-koeman-to-take-barcelona-job

what a weird rumour; he's not a good fit for their style at all :|

i did like the opening line though:
Because Barcelona are so self-effacingly understated, so lovably altruistic, it is impossible to find any pleasure in Tuesday night’s més que un clubbing by Paris Saint-Germain; the football family mourns as one.

fair play to him.

instead of getting called a banana split on a cold, windy Tuesday in Stoke while earning 60K a year, he can get called a banana split in the warm, while earning 200K

While I've made the point in an exaggerated way, believing one player is better than another based mainly on assist stats is nonsense.

Someone might constantly carve out clear cut opportunities for a gooseberry fool striker who is constantly missing them so the player is not getting any assist stats recorded.

While other players can get an assist stat for making the final pass to a scorer that still has a lot of work to do.

Although it is not spelt in the same way, the Arabic word for "banana split" rhymes with "Clattenburg".

I don't like discussing Ozil vs. Coutinho, especially given the egg on face potential of Liverpool playing Arsenal in just over two weeks, but the fact Ozil is now seen as a player who doesn't deliver in the big games is damning. He is a fantastic player on his day, one of the world's best, but to be a truly great player I think he needs to deliver more consistently when the chips are down and the game is getting away from his team.

Coutinho has a better record of delivering in big games (last season's Europa league final a notable exception) but he need to show more consistency to be a great player.

The downside of that is that as soon as he starts showing consistency he starts getting linked with Barcelona. :dread:

Ozil should get alot of the blame for walking around in circles with hands in the air he's done that in so many games this season.

Also that tweet about Chamberlain clapping the wrong fans is the biggest pile of BS after the Arsenal team.

This season Coutinho has been better despite being out for a couple of months. Giving Ozil a free pass for assists a few years ago is ridiculous.

That said, couts has yet to find his form since coming back, I know which player I'd rather have in my team tho.
