Chopped off the CL win I see.

I'll leave it at that, this thread turns into derp town if I say anything remotely negative towards Manu, derailed to f***.

Before you leave, what point was I proving? I was just correcting DML. I'm not really concerned about trophy counts from the last 10 years or so.

So answer this before you run off. If your team could get in the champions league via one route, would you fancy yourself against Celta Vigo and Ajax at a neutral ground or Spurs/Arsenal away from home?

Jose had to make that decision once Shaw, Young, Rojo and Ibra got injured. Mata just returned from a month out. Smalling and Jones just returned from a injury. Pogba also had a hamstering injury. We had like one fit centre back a few weeks ago. The squad just had far too many injuries to get results in both competitions.

If we don't win next week then yeah it's been a failure of a season. If we do win then it's been a very good first season for Jose.

Sorry man was collecting the missus, I think you'll beat Ajax, we had Sevilla in last years final and we literally fell apart after half time. I was very surprised how poor Celta Vigo were, I mean they were very poor. I think the occasion will get to Ajax in the end.

My overall point is that it's weird seeing Manu where they are and I just didn't think Mourinho playing down expectations would sit well with fans but I guess I was wrong.

I presumed he talked down hopes but it appears that he was merely reflecting the general mood amongst Manu fans. I hate him, always have, his hypocrisy knows no bounds, he's slagged off the Europa league in the past, now he's annoyed Manu have to play League games...a really annoying bastard but a winning bastard. When he joined and you got Ibra and Pogba I thought easily top 4. Anyways that's my 2 cents.

Was away at the weekend but delighted that Swansea stayed up (obviously)!

Paul Clement has done a great job, hopefully we can get rid of some of the deadwood in the squad and get some more good signings in as we had a pretty strong Jan transfer window.

The obvious fear is that Sigurdsson and Llorente leave and we don't replace them with similar quality then we have an even worse season than this...

2 bits of European football stuff going on today/tonight:

1 - Dirk Kuyt has just retired after scoring a hattrick to seal the Eredivisie title for Feyernoord, their first league win in 18 years. As a United fan I have a natural dislike of former Liverpool players, but he was a hard worker and a solid pro so it's hard to begrudge him a send off like that.

2 - Juve vs Lazio in the Coppa Italia tonight, could be the first title of a treble for Juve should they win. Might keep an eye on that, if anything just to watch Dybala as he's absolutely brilliant.

Poch staying on is huge news for Spurs, eh. Do people think it'll reduce the chances of a mass exodus of players?

If they can double their money somewhere else, they'll jump ship.

I think it's safe to say that the players will be playing away from White Hart Lane next season.

I think or two may leave but the vast majority, including Kane and Alli, they'll keep hold of.

I think Photek has somewhat of a point in what he's saying. Not on the spending money nonsense because literally all clubs spend money and all long term successful clubs have spent big, on the flip side lots of clubs have spent big trying to catch up, some failed, some have made it. Literally annoys the hell out of me when the you've spent x amount to have a dig at a clubs level of success.

What he does have a point in tho is that united for my whole life time have built themselves on the pride that their squad/team could no matter what challenge on all fronts and that counts European competitions. Ferguson had it drilled into everyone who would and wouldn't listen that united were the best team in whatever competition they were in. Now four years later united all of a sudden can't stay competitive from a Thursday to a Sunday. I hate the line "The EL messes with league form" it was coined by the English media to belittle the competition and gave all English managers an out, it's really no different to playing from Wednesday to Saturday, you're still traveling to Europe. The fact the fans are happy to accept the fact they were sent out to lose the two games on the fact they are in a cup final amazes me, considering if you'd won your games in hand when it was about 31 played you'd comfortably be top four now. Truly baffling that a club like united has lowered it's standards so low in such a short period of time.

That's my two cents anyway and I'm not having a pop because i support Liverpool just having my say.

Thing is that this is just mourinho,he will blame everything and everyone other than himself and right now that's the Europa league schedule even though he knew what it was months ago .As for the squad he could have bought more players but instead signed a couple of big names and figured they would fit in somewhere .

Overall though I've never been impressed by his ways of managing and tactics ,he also has never once been at a club that doesn't have money to spend to dig him out of trouble. I've never seen the appeal of him,he only plays youth when pushed and never plays free flowing attacking football. He's a very negative style manager and always ready to blame others and complain. I guess he must be doing something right as he can win trophies but whatever the club, they have to then take on his bullshit ,baggage and negativity to do it.

Don't think Jose is going to get his wish to play on Saturday. Fair play to him for asking, though. :P
