No doubt, I just find it interesting (in general, not this case specifically) what happens when a person is aquitted of a crime, but only years later after everyone's made up their minds about them.

But aaaanyway, how about that football huh?

How the person is treated afterwards should depend on what facts are available. Evans was found (eventually) not guilty of rape, but the whole story shows him to be a pretty scummy guy. Behind his pregnant girlfriends back, he went to a hotel to have sex with a drunk girl that his mate had "found". Footballers can be scummy, but that is a whole different level of scummy.

If the facts had been that he had never even met the girl and she had made the whole thing up, then people like Jessica Ennis would (or at least should) apologise.

His morals are questionable for doing the dirty behind his girlfriends back and with a drunk girl but it's a whole different ball game to being a rapist.

He should be allowed to get on with his life and back to his sport.

Absolutely.

I wouldn't want him at my club though.

Had all that stuff with Giggsy at United. I didn't care then and don't now. If someone is a good player - i couldn't care less what they do in their private life as long as it's consensual. It's their business not mine.

Giggs was a bit of a gooseberry fool, but none of his indiscretions were in the same league as Evans.

I've never shagged my brother's wife. To be fair though - she's a pig. She looks like Tarzan found Jane's handbag and ate her makeup.

Well, you're a liberal. You're probably used to women who don't shave or use deodorant. Some Po faced harridan with armpit hair like shredded wheat and a fanny like a bear trappers hat.

Jesus. Some of the language used in this thread.

It's going to be mayhem in here if Manchester United finish outside the top 4 and fail to win the Europa League.

If that happens and the Tories don't win - i'll be changing my username to Lord Lucanster.

Shocking defending by Southampton. All those players in their own box against Costa and Hazard and they did sod all.

They must want someone on loan from Chelsea for next season.

So cheating on your girlfriend with a drunk girl is worse than cheating on your wife with your brothers wife? That's a new one.

Good time for Chelsea to get that goal, disappointing though.

It wasn't that simple though was it?

His girlfriend was pregnant. He went to the hotel after his mate found a drunk girl and text him to come along. The girl doesn't think it was consensual sex. A court agreed with her that it was rape before another court overturned it. He might not be a rapist legally but there are certainly questions there.

Giggs did wrong, but there was never any question of rape.

What Giggs did was terrible from a moral point of view but what Ched Evans did was skirting illegal and from a moral stand point much worse. It's about having a bit of respect for a fellow human being if she was your daughter you'd probably want to kill the little bastard.

There shouldn't be a question of rape for either; Ched Evans is blatantly a strawberry floating bellend but legally - so as far as we know - he's not a rapist. At which point it boils down to man having one-off threesome cheating on girlfriend, with man consistently betraying both his brother and his wife in one of the worst ways possible over a prolonged period of time.

Working on the basis that it was all consensual Giggs' misdiscretion is so obviously worse it's barely up for debate.
