Denster wrote:It's because City wont pay the fee. If they had he would have negotiated with them. It not the money United are paying him. Its the transfer and agent fee.

The fee was agreed in the summer in terms of wages etc. Manu offered more, they went back to City to at least equal the deal and City said f*** off.

Goal understands that an agreement was put in place with Alexis and his agent, Fernando Felicevich, many weeks ago. At that stage, the only obstacle for the Blues, as it had been last summer, was negotiating a fee with the Gunners.

When Manchester United made their shock move at the end of last week, however, Felicevich informed City that the situation had changed and that more money needed to be paid.

The figures bandied around at the moment suggest United are willing to pay Alexis £400,000 per week in wages and signing-on fee of anywhere between £10m and £20m, as well as between £5m and £10m to the agent.

Whether those figures are accurate or not does not matter as far as City are concerned; they pulled out as soon as Felicevich moved the goalposts. It had been his intention to negotiate a new deal with the Blues, but they informed him there and then that there would be no further contact.

Guardiola supported the stance, despite the fact he had made Alexis his top target throughout last summer and wanted to bring him in in January, is on board with the decision. Why? Because he had decided that the Chilean's resolve to play for City had weakened.

Manchester City have decided not to pursue their interest in signing Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.

The club have decided the cost of pursuing the 29-year-old would be prohibitively expensive.

Manager Pep Guardiola, the club's owner Khaldoon al Mubarak and other senior officials are all in agreement.

It is understood the wages being demanded by Sanchez would have put him ahead of all City's star men, something the club decided they would not do.

The same story is on many sites I can't link them all, I'm in work. :shifty:

It was a done deal to City but United made a bid and Arsenal saw an opportunity to make some more money. City then refused to match that bid or better it. That's pretty much why he isn't going to City. Wages are secondary to the fact that the selling club got a better offer and decided to take it or ask City to meet it also.

People making out that Sanchez is joining some second tier club with a second rate manager. Last I checked Mourinho is still one of the best managers in the world.

Find it funny all these statements coming out. Nothing was said when City or Chelsea were doing it. Nothing was said like this when Hazard rejected the chance to play for the greatest manager of all time to play for Roberto Di Matteo. That was even worse in my opinion. Where as Sanchez this is his last big contract and he is obviously going to maximise it.

I don’t think Mourinho is one of the best managers in the world any more but that’s a different argument. Manu are a bigger club than City I’m just saying money was the deciding factor, how is that slight on Manu?

What a load of bollocks, look how Sterling was treated at Anfield on Sunday and Chelsea still get chants about buying the league.

Pep, Conte, Allegri, Heynckes and Valverde.

I think Pochettino and Klopp have potential to be better.

So if you're 6th on the list you are no longer one of the best in the world? OK.

I wasn't smart-assing, just thinking that Mourinho being 6th in the world should rank him as one of the world's best.

But how else am I to answer you asking me to name better managers? To look at it like that is vastly missing the point. He’s a level below them IMO.

I appreciate that you listed 5 better managers and I agree with your chosen lot to an extent.

It's a cliche but I think football has changed and Mourinho hasn't changed with it. I know, no one will be as good as Fegusson but seeing Manu playing Jose's brand of football is really bizarre after the 20+ years of annoyingly f***ing brilliant football. Manu used to destroy teams on way to titles, all that pace, attacking football coupled with tactical nouse in Europe when it was needed. Oddly, Pep is the closest thing to that at mo.

As much as I hated it, I apreciated Manu winning the Title more than Chelsea under Mourinho so I'm glad Pep's brand of football is winning again. Conte is negative but not as negative as Jose. Liverpool v Manu games are now awful games of attrition and its horrendous.

What? everyone talks about Chelsea and Man City buying the league. How was Tevez treated by Utd fans.

Man Utd aren't s second rate club but it's unlikely Sanchez is going to win the Premier or Champions League there. Utd won cup competitions that aren't as prestigious as the FA cup which Sanchez won at Arsenal.

God knows how he will fit in a Mourinho side.

What a bunch of nonsense.

What has Valverde done to be added to that list? Real Madrid are imploding, my nan would have managed to win the league with Barca after the way Madrid are playing. If Real Madrid were atleast close to them then I would praise his management. But Madrid have been their own downfall and he has faced no competition.

Why haven’t you added Luis Enrique to your fascinating list?

Allegri better than Mourinho? Really? Heynckeys too? What next Unai Emery? Do you really think if Mourinho was manager of Bayern, PSG or Juventus that they wouldn’t be top of the league?

Atleast try be subjective in your hatred. Or maybe you are trolling again, I don’t know which one it is these days.

I’m not talking about buying the league. I’m talking individual players like Nasri and Hazard rejecting the chance to play under Fergie to play for City and Chelsea. Nothing big was made about this. More was made about Man Utd being silly about not paying the agent fees. No agenda was being posted about how Hazard rejected the chance to work with the greatest manager of all time.

All I been hearing about Sanchez is oh how dare he reject the mighty Pep. He should have gone to City for free to work under Pep. In fact he should have paid Pep for the privilege of being coached by him.

City taking the moral ground is funny as it’s them and Chelsea who started this paying the agent nonsense.
