The main problem with the cups is mid-table PL clubs are so terrified of going down, they'd rather get knocked out as soon as possible and focus on finishing 13th than play a few extra games.

Spurs opened the door to West Ham and nearly paid the price. I thought West Ham were pretty poor for the first 60 minutes though.

Lukaku, good man.

Some Man Utd fans are singing the Lukaku song again and also "we're Man Utd, we'll sing what we want". Wankers.

Imagine if Everton didn't hate Niasse for seemingly no reason.

EDIT: strawberry floating hell Delph's goal

Pat Nevin

Ex-Chelsea winger on 5 live Sport

United have defended just about enough but Southampton have now had about seven chances. United are just not in the game.

Marcus Rashford, who started off so well - we have barely said his name in this half.

These are the chances Southampton have to take. They deserve to. They have been the best team in this half by a long distance.

Awful performance but if you can win games like that it stands us in good stead for the season.

Jones was very solid today. We had games like this under Fergie but Rio and Vidic would just get us through them by being solid.

Niasse 2-1 Koeman is all I can say after that. This Everton team isn't ready to play how Koeman wants to and it's his fault for not working around that. Stubborn manager. Today is a win for the team but a loss for him. Saved by the very player he thought he'd never use.

Benteke injured and no backup :fp:

Should probably just ask if we can be relegated now tbh, not much point left...

Really happy for Niasse, admittedly he looked crap in his previous appearances for us but not letting him in the dressing room, making him play with the U23s and not even giving him a locker there just seems needlessly harsh. And he's been nothing but respectful throughout too, seems like a great guy.

Koeman seems to think a team playing with three number 10s with no pace and no width is a good way to play football. I've got some serious doubts about him at the moment, some of the teams he's been picking just don't make any sense.

Give him a team that limits his choice and he'll make the best of what he has. Give him £150m spending money and he'll arrogantly do things his way for better or for worse. We were beaten tactically today.

Satisfying result and once again a game we'd have dropped points in last season.
Not see much of the games but given the results and their own recent travails - pretty good riposte from Pool.

Cmon Leicester.

Leicester back in the game. Dreadful defending again.

So Mourinho was sent off for stepping a yard outside the technical area. Whilst Klopp and Conte are free to do what they like which includes berating the fourth official for any decision against them.

It didn't seem like he did much he was hugging the 4th official for some reason...

Wouldn't be the Premier League without Mourinho getting sent to the stands.

Yet against Stoke, Mourinho decided to march into Hughes's technical area and nothing was done.
