Man United season review:

Manager performance - 7/10
Jose is Jose. Won 2 trophies (first United manager ever to win anything in his first season), got Champions League football, signed some quality players. But he did moan a lot and the squad issues later in the season were his own doing by selling the Schmidfield and Depay, so his moaning fell on deaf ears for me. I expect him to be better next season when he has cleared some more dead wood and brought in more of his own players.

Best player - Rooney. Just kidding. Bit of a tough one but I'd go for Antonio Valencia. Mr Consistent, he's fantastic and might be the best RB in the league. Plus he seems like the nicest most professional guy so it's easy to like him. Honourable mention to Herrera, the cheeky scamp

Worst player - Rooney. Not kidding. He is finished at the top level and needs to leave before he stinks out the entire club.

Best signing - Got to be Zlatan, all those goals :datass:

Worst signing - Mikhytarian - showed glimpses of his obvious quality, but had a very stop-start season. I reckon he'll be great next season though.

Season highlight - Winning the Europa League, genuinely loved it.

Season lowlight - the draws, my god the draws :dread:

Overall team performance - 8/10
If they had lost the Europa League final then it would have plummeted to a 4/10, but in the end you support your team in the hope they win something, and United won 2 things and acheived a massive goal of getting back into the CL, so that can't be underestimated. Can't forget all those home draws though, hopefully they focus on finishing practice in pre-season.

Rachel Riley will no longer be doing the Friday Sky game after receiving a load of apparent abuse from Spurs fans. She has now split from Sky by mutual consent. Or as a Sun reader put it...

Sky have been infiltrated by womans libbers and the gay agenda just like the BBC has been for years.

Womans football punditry is as bad as womans football, second rate compared to mens.

Leave us alone.

Poor Rachel. To be fair, though, it was a silly thing she said.

Wasn't silly at all. Spurs lost a must-win game, they bottled it. She said they bottled it. She was right.

She said that Spurs losing to West Ham was a "proper bottle job".

Which it was. If Souness or Neville had said it no one would bat an eyelid.

I don't think they bottled it. If it was neck and neck and Spurs had been properly challenging Chelsea all season I would say they had bottled it. It was likely out of their hands either way in actuality.

I've no doubt that a lot of the abuse she got was down to her being a woman, by the way. I do think if Souness or some other male pundit said the same thing they would have got abuse too, just not sexist abuse.

That's another thing. I didn't watch the Friday show much but wasn't she just a presenter and not a pundit? I would have expected her to ask a pundit whether they thought it was a bottle job or not, not opine it herself in quite a dismissive manner.

Nah. Stelling and others make their opinions known all the time and don't get the kind of gooseberry fool she has for it.

I need adding to the Man Utd supporters section!

It's a shame Riley has given in to the trolls. I hope she reconsiders although it sounds as if thats it.

She wasn't a very good presenter but the level of abuse she got for it is disgusting.

Sky's modus operandi is people saying stupid stuff for controversy

Looking forward to City visiting the Amex. Nothing like an opening day upset. 8-)

Southampton managed to give them a real game when they first came up - no reason why Brighton can't. I just hope Shane Duffy has been moved on by the time of the new season so I can support them.

How was your breakfast?

(Yes there will be constant Brighton snipes this year, least it's different from the Scouse/Manc ones)

United complete signing of Victor Lindelof

Manchester United is delighted to announce the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica on a four-year contract from 1 July 2017, with an option for a further year.

The 22-year-old Swedish international centre-back is a versatile defender and will make his debut on the summer tour of the USA in July.

Jose Mourinho said:

"Victor is a very talented young player, who has a great future ahead of him at United. Our season last year showed us that we need options and quality to add depth to the squad and Victor is the first to join us this summer. I know that our fantastic group of players will welcome him as one of us."

Victor Lindelof said:

"I am thrilled to be joining Manchester United. I have enjoyed my time at Benfica enormously and I have learned a lot there. But I’m looking forward to playing in the Premier League at Old Trafford and for Jose Mourinho. I’m keen to get started and make my contribution to the team’s efforts to win more trophies."

For this summer/season ahead these are what I'd like to see/hope for.

Summer transfers in: new LB, CB, GK, a proper striker as ours are all quite guff just now. Possibly a new CM also to add some depth. If we can stretch far enough a LW also instead of forcing Coutinho or Firmino out there from time to time.

Season ahead, top four again just don't think we'll be strong enough to win the league or even challenge for that matter. Win either of the FA cup or league cup, goodness it's been too long since we've lifted a trophy. Last 16 of the CL. I know it isn't too much to ask for but I'd be very pleased if all this happened.

Rachel Riley may not have left because of abuse she got:

A Sky Sports source said: “At the end of the season she contacted the head of football, saying she felt it wasn’t right to be part of that programme. This was something she was considering in advance of the West Ham-Spurs match.”

Can't have helped, though.
