Mike Ashley's put Newcastle up for sale. I wonder who'll buy it?

I look forward to that Vince McMahon rumour resurfacing for the third time.

If someone came in and invested in them - it could change things considerably. They’ve got the support of a big club.

I'd love to see Newcastle establish themselves as a top 10 side again, one of the great sleeping giants of English football. Feel the same about Leeds as well, despite the obvious United rivalry. Football is better when all the big clubs are actually big clubs and not hollowed out shells being used as a giant slush fund by some gangster businessman.

Do they really need a draw for the World Cup's European playoffs? Surely this table already gives you what you need:

Just do 1st vs 8th, 2nd vs 7th, etc.

Anyway, out of the contenders...

Seeded: Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Denmark
Unseeded: Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Sweden, Greece

Would like to see Switzerland, Italy, Croatia and Sweden or Denmark go through.

Things always change though. For years Preston were a massive club. Wolves had their spell. Liverpool used to win the league. Forest were double European champions. Etc etc.

I always think of Newcastle and Leeds as big clubs, but just being a big club now doesn’t mean you always will be.

That could hardly have gone better for the Irish. Still think neither side will get through, though.

You know what, Moggy? You can take your logic and your reason and shove it up where the sun don't shine NEVER!

Just leave me to bathe in my nostalgia ffs, I'm quite happy remembering Newcastle vs FC Metz, 1996. I remember watching it as an 11 year old and just loving it, despite being a United fan.

That Newcastle team:

Pavel Srnicek
Philippe Albert
Darren Peacock
Robbie Elliott
David Batty
Keith Gillespie
David Ginola
Rob Lee
Faustino Asprilla
Peter Beardsley
Alan Shearer

You loved watching Newcastle United despite being a United fan? ;)

All I was really doing in my post was sneaking in a dig at Liverpool.
