Probably a reasonable and measured punishment. Outrageous though that he gets suspended and those 2 drink-driving banana splits got nothing.

I'm going to assume you aren't being disingenuous here and respond in good faith.

Manchester United fans have enjoyed amazing attacking football with great success for many years.
The fans of this club have come to expect this style of football, and look forward to watching this style.
Fans of clubs like Burnley have come to expect defensive football with long balls, and support their team heartily with songs and chants even when they play "boring" football. Believe me, I saw it in person when they eked out a draw at Anfield.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

"Eked out a draw". Didn't they take the lead in that game and miss quite a few good chances? Don't they have easily the lowest wage bill in the PL?

I guess Carragher gets a harsher punishment as he is more high profile. It is ridiculous that he gets suspended and drink drivers get zero punishment.

They had 5 shots in that game, Liverpool had 35. Liverpool also had 71% possession.

Sorry wrong game.

Til the end of the season isn't much of a punishment. There's only 8 games left. I agree the drunk drivers should have been harshly dealt with but that doesn't mean leniency should be continued.

I must confess I didn't know about the drink driving. It's outrageous they weren't broomed for that.

To be honest, it’s the way Manu played that warms the old cockles, spurs warmed them too but they were unlucky, United were dreadful.

I don’t think either myself or Preezy were saying that Carragher shouldn’t be punished, we were pointing out that the drink drivers should have been punished.

I agree that leniency shouldn’t be continued, but Kirsty Gallagher was only sentenced for drink driving back in September. It’s not like there has been much time for Sky to suddenly revise their employee conduct policies.

It's astonishing she wasn't dealt with more harshly. What sort of message is that conveying? I wonder if they'd received criticism for that, though? That might be why they've been so quick to deal with Carragher.

Yeah maybe. I suspect that it is more that they see Carragher as higher profile. He’s there presenting their flagship Premier League games, whereas she is usually just on Sky Sports News doing the odd report here and there. He has also been all over the news for the last few days, whereas her conviction was more under the radar.

You are right as well that a suspension until the end of the season isn’t very harsh, I am just amazed that Sky doesn’t seem to have a set of guidelines to refer to when their presenters step out of line. Drink driving? Carry on! Spitting? You disgusting bastard, get out until next season!

They don't have guidelines, their reactions are entirely based on how valuable the person is to them, and how serious the public's reaction is. If they didn't want to keep Carragher, he'd have been sacked by now.

Yes. But do you acknowledge what I have said or have you just decided to attack big club fans a different way?
