I'd rather Sky just buy it. Splitting the packages was the most damaging thing they did and having 3 broadcasters would be a joke.
That was the Competition Commission’s fault, who, in an effort to help consumers, made the situation worse by requiring the rights to be split across more than one broadcaster.
Competition that would benefit the consumer would be where more than one channel were able to show the same games.
The issue I assume was that the CC treated football matches as homogenous which isn't the case I don't want to watch any football match I want to watch specific football matches, i.e. no one thinks I want to watch football Sky is £40 BT is £20 I'll take BT. Though at least it got rid of the pre runner to Sky Sports PL where you basically paid another £100 to get to watch all the PL.
Completely agree about football matches being on more than 1 channel! I assume the end game though is for the PL to offer a direct subscription service like the American sports. They also need to get rid of that silly rule re 3pm kick offs.
