Zinedine Zidane has been a Manager of 1 club for a year and a half. I don’t think that qualifies him as a great manager.

It's not the length of service, it's the trophies he's won during that time that show he's a great manager.

Where are Real now? I can’t argue against lunacy.

So if he wins the Champions League 2 seasons in a row, but now his team is struggling halfway through his 3rd season, he's suddenly not a great manager?

I can't argue against lunacy.

Everything he won, he did so with players other managers bought, he brought in/back 8 players last summer and look at them now. Are you seriously suggesting he’s up there with managers who’ve won more leagues and have crafted sides from scratch? Cop on.

Absolutely no-one who has won two Champions League is a bad manager! What a load of codswallop.

In a row. Because absolutely no one else has done it. Ludicrous assertion. Even for the author in question.

Find it funny all these statements coming out. Nothing was said when City or Chelsea were doing it. Nothing was said like this when Hazard rejected the chance to play for the greatest manager of all time to play for Roberto Di Matteo. That was even worse in my opinion. Where as Sanchez this is his last big contract and he is obviously going to maximise it.

THIS

What? everyone talks about Chelsea and Man City buying the league. How was Tevez treated by Utd fans.

Man Utd aren't s second rate club but it's unlikely Sanchez is going to win the Premier or Champions League there. Utd won cup competitions that aren't as prestigious as the FA cup which Sanchez won at Arsenal.

God knows how he will fit in a Mourinho side.

It's unlikely they'll win the league this year. But they well may win it next. Or are we saying City are dead certs for it next season too.

Nope. Next year's our year :datass:

Considering they lost one of their most important players last summer and were without his replacement until the last week or so that's very impressive by Valverde.

I wouldn't have him in the top five or so managers in Europe right now but he has done a very impressive job since taking the reins.

Of course it makes a difference. If Real Madrid were winning game after game it would put pressure on Barcelona and that would be a test to his management on how he sets up and copes with that. Real Madrid have been atrocious and made his life easier.

The same happened with Schushter in 07 and 08. Barcelona started having problems in the dressing room and they finished like fourth in one of those seasons. Did anyone regard Schushter as a world class manager then?

Enrique barely got praised despite winning the treble and another league in three seasons.

Genuinely think I could manage Barcelona to a league title with the players they've got. The team picks itself.

You said he wasn't great and further qualified it by alluding to their form this season.

Pep did it at Barca with players other managers bought. He is currently doing it with City the exact same. Only addition that were significant in both sides were Walker and Alves.

Conte did it last season with players other manager has bought.

Zidanes disappointment is that he has relied a lot on young players. He let the likes of James, Morata and Pepe go without replacing them. Bale is injured always. Benzema has done nothing and Ronaldo just looks like it’s beginning to look like times up.

The players need replacing rather than the manager in this case. Madrid need to refresh their attacking line up.

You rate Allegri as one of the best, but not Zidane. Lunacy indeed.

Heynckes has a ridiculous amount of honours including 2 Champions Leagues plus have you seen Bayern play under him? You should have, they beat you in Old Trafford on way to one of this champions leagues.

No they didn’t.

That was Pep when we had Moyes and Evra scores that thunderbolt.

They lost to Chelsea in the final at home too. One of the worst teams to ever win it.

While we're talking about Managers doing it with players they didn't buy - what about the Spanish waiter for Liverpool in 2005?

This is a bizarre argument raging in here, with Mourinho's last few seasons (yeah i know he won the Europa) it could quite easily be argued he's not a world class manager anymore. Then again, his squad aren't that fantastic, he's second in the league and his past managerial records are amazing. I don't think either are that controversial a position to take.

The flip side of your argument can be applied just as easily. How many times have Barcelona slipped up this season even though it'd be easy for them to take the foot off the gas because of Madrids struggles? Even last Sunday it would have been very easy to accept a draw or even a defeat because they knew they had a good lead at the top of the league but they didn't. They dug out another win. Madrid may be poor this season but Barcelona are still doing better than most people expected, especially after the way the transfer window went for them.
