Lingard is a fine squad player isn’t he? Not sure why everyone seems to dislike him.

We'll get this today and he'll go missing in his next ten games.

Im not actually watching the game its the first one I've missed so far. Glad we're putting in a performance ahead of the Spurs game though.

Also Jones on the bench! He lives! Was gutted to see him go off against Huddersfield as he's been our best defender this season.

His next ten appearances could be spread out over 20 games. He’s not first choice and I’m certainly not arguing he should be. He is a useful squad player and he often provides us with some energy and impetus. Plus he scores a few. Including some at key moments.
Decent player. Not great but certainly not as bad.

I’ve defended him before and will again. He is often the whipping boy for some reds on here. Including yourself. Unfairly so imo.

Hopefully when the rockets come, one will hit Ashton Gate...

Not sure how Hennessey has formed a career as a goalkeeper given his recent inability to catch even a cold...

And fans abusing the lad Souare by throwing his shirt back at him given his past year just adds to the embarrassment...

Never in doubt lol, Bravo always wins at pens

Worry for city is how reliant they are on first choice playmakers and fullbacks.

Pep Guardiola blames Carabao Cup ball for City’s struggle against Wolves

• Claudio Bravo saved two penalties as league leaders reached last eight
• Guardiola: the ball was unacceptable for a high-level competition

Pep Guardiola branded the ball used in Manchester City’s 4-1 penalty shootout win over Wolverhampton Wanderers as “unacceptable for a high-level competition” after his side survived a scare to progress to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals after extra time.

Claudio Bravo saved two Wolves penalties before Sergio Agüero scored the decisive spot-kick and while Guardiola was pleased with the victory, he expressed displeasure at the Mitre ball which is usually used in Football League matches. “It is not acceptable, the ball was unacceptable for a high-level competition,” Guardiola said. “It is too light, it moves all over the place, it is not a good ball. It is impossible to score with a ball like that and I can say that because we won, I’m not making excuses. All of my players said: ‘What is that?’ I’m sorry Carabao Cup is not a serious ball for a serious competition. It’s [for] marketing, money, OK but it’s not acceptable – [it has] no weight, nothing.”

Oh. Okay.

Number of goals scored in last night's games using that ball - 18 (plus 4 penalties).

Impossible.

In the last round Man City managed to score twice. I don’t remember any complaining about the ball then. Pep is obviously a great coach but he’s the worst post-match guy in all football.

Liverpools Ryan Brewster's hat-trick puts England U17s into the final 3-1. With no World cup final appearances since 1966, England get into 2 within a few months. Final on Saturday against Mali.
