Going back to an older topic here's a tweet that explains how Champions League money is distributed among English and Scottish teams.

I like Carragher but this was such a stupid thing to do. I really hope he doesn't get fired and Red Nev gets his own back after the Valencia ribbing.

Waiting to see how long people stay angry I guess. If it calms down reasonably quickly then he'll be back, if it keeps going they'll cut him loose.

Not sure he should be sacked over it though.

Photek doesn't think a Liverpool player should be sacked? Well I never. ;)

I actually agree with you, Carra was a moron, but I don't think he should be sacked. He was goaded way too easily though, the bloke didn't really say anything too out of order to him, to react by spitting is nuts.

The driver was a twat as well. Filming while driving and you could hear the £££ signs in his head when he was talking afterwards. Your daughter just got spat on by another bloke (after she told you to not do anything!) and all you can think is " well well well!!".

The only person to come out of that whole thing not looking a banana split was the poor kid that got spat on.

I think a decent length suspension is enough. Maybe with some road rage course or something shoved in there too. It's disgusting, but not sure it's worth having his career ruined.

I agree the driver was a twat and hopefully he will be in trouble for reckless driving.

I think it’s ridiculous they got him out on Sky news and they started grilling him. They didn’t do that to Georgie Thompson or Kirsty ‘Gallacher’ when they got done for drink driving. In fact I recall Thompson got a promotion to F1 following that. Gallacher wasn’t even suspended. They not really sending out the right message here with their double standards.

Suspend him for a month or something. Don’t let him cover Old Trafford games if something like 2-1 winds him up. Now he has set himself up for more fans to start winding up.

He should be sacked. All he had to do was wind up his window.
Instead he spat at a 14 year old girl. How is this even a debate?
It’s inexcusable.

He'll go on a spitting awareness course, meet some people who've been spat at and learn about how it's impacted their lives, meet some people who find it offensive, then meet some reformed spitters.
He'll then do a video documentary about his journey and what he's learnt, and he'll make a sizeable donation to a charity for victims of spitting.

Why do people keep saying he was spitting at a 14 year old girl? He clearly was aiming for an atomic loogie at the fella.

Are we sure he wasn't just trying to speak?

He was obviously going to hit the 14 year old girl though, she was sitting in the passenger seat. Carragher deemed her acceptable collateral damage in his phlegm fountain.

FWIW I don't think he should be sacked and agree with PES Fan's point on double standards-drink driving is far worse and put's people's lives at risk.

I guess there is a debate because of incidents like PES fan mentioned. Is spitting worse than potentially killing people whilst drink driving? You obviously don't have to answer that :slol:

I think a lengthy ban is perfectly fine for a gross incident like this.

At the man who decided to endanger his teenage daughter's life by driving aggressively and filming an altercation with a retired footballer, before using her as a moral shield to make Carragher the big villain of the piece and not himself. He's lucky she only got a bit of spit in her face and not a glove box.

Another point is - the level of provocation. Fans do say some unacceptable things. I remember Beckham
Once saying he’d heard opposition fans shouting they hoped his kids got cancer. But that doesn’t appear to have been the case here. The provocation appears very mild here.
His response is not only disgusting it’s also a massive overreaction to a pretty mild bit of goading.
I like the guy. He’s a good commentator and his reaction to this shows he’s truly sorry and ashamed of himself. But so he should be.
It’s a disgusting act and is inexcusable.

But again, he was being harassed whilst driving a car. That's not exactly safe. It's distracting, and like in the classic road safety adverts where the driver keeps looking in their mirror at a car behind them, and ends up not paying attention and smacking into the car in front. Why should anyone have to put up with being goaded whilst driving? Even if they did play for Liverpool once upon a time.

I don't think anyone is excusing what he did as spitting is revolting, just saying it probably doesn't warrant a sacking in the grand scheme of things.

Because I’m genuinely surprised so many of you are arguing for leniency.
