How are we actually debating this?

If you really want to avoid one football result so that you can watch it on motd?
You avoid all chance of having it spoiled.
We are allowing one imbecile to make an issue of a non issue.

We’re also setting a horrendous precedent.
I actually thought it was a joke. I’m still 95% convinced it is. If it isn’t - the results certainly are.

im an imbecile because id rather people didnt edit the title of the Football Thread to show results of games a few hours afterwards?
so next time theres a film you want to watch ill put a spoiler in the films' thread title - your fault for not watching it the day it was released!

Never really understood the idea of recording a sport to watch later or avoiding all results to watch highlights. Just doesn't have the appeal knowing that it's already happened. Particularly these days where there's a number of ways you can follow sports live

thats fine, but you and your experience isnt everyone. i like to watch sport in full, if i cant do that live ill record or watch highlights on the same day. im not one of these people that has to be glued to their phone on Saturday watching live updates, thats not fun for me.
i agree with you a recorded game or highlights lose their appeal after the day they were played on, which works out because fat chance avoiding spoilers for more than a few hours in public.

lets examine this from all angles, because im a sad act.

person A knows the football results, so having the thread title with results is a net neutral
person B doesnt know the football results but doesnt care if he finds them out or not, having the thread title with results is a net neutral
person C doesnt know the football results, but doesnt want to find them out, having a thread title with results is a net negative
person D doesnt know the football results, but wants to find them out, but instead of going on guardian sport, or bbc sport, he goes to Off-Topic and looks for the thread title and finds them out that way. this is a net positive.

person D doesnt strawberry floating exist :x

Some of you are so strawberry floating weird.

Some people don't want results of games in the thread title, what's the big deal? It literally requires more effort to put it in the thread title. And all doing that does is spoil the result for people that don't want to know and has precisely zero impact on the people who don't give a gooseberry fool. If you want to know or discuss it, go into the thread itself. Telling people to stay off the forum is so dumb for obvious reasons I only want to address it by mentioning how stupid it is.

And for the record: I don't care about hearing results before I've had a chance to watch a game. But some people do so just accommodate them.

But results aren't put in the title, this is just a shock result that happened to result in another team winning the league. Unfortunately you've made your bed now so whoever gets the thread will troll you mercilessly on at least one occasion.

I voted yes and then realized I should have voted no. If having results in the title ruins it for one person then it's worth avoiding. I don't give two strawberry floats either way personally I just wish I could have the Man Utd vs West Brom result wiped from my memory altogether.

Yeah same for me. If I miss a game I miss it I just can't watch a full game back again. Highlights I'm fine with however I'm not criticising those that do because they obviously enjoy it.

Ahem.

Anyway yeah, just put the results in a post instead of in the title.

But some of these posts suggest that a list of results are put in the thread title every week, this is a fairly unique circumstance.

If it stops this happening again don't put anything in the title. The last few pages have been worse than Arsenal's season.

im trying to be realistic - if youve not watched the game/highlights that evening then youre too late as something else wouldve given the result away by that point.
for example i record Champs League as i have work late on Wed evenings - if the football thread title had the result in it then my whole 90 mins recording is worthless pretty much.
people do things differently, dont ruin others enjoyment when its no skin off your nose.

I just don't understand why you would come on GRCade TBH. To try blame Photek for that when its a common practice is to me very, very low.

It’s a bit much to say somebody shouldn’t even look at the forum until they have watched the game/highlights.

If somebody reads the thread and sees a “spoiler” then that’s tough luck, but I don’t see the harm with keeping spoilers out of the thread title.

This is hilarious though.

I'm going to start threads of games and put the endings in the titles. I wonder if people will be happy with that. Before people say it's not the same, it is, the end of result of something you enjoy has been spoiled. If people complain, they can avoid GRcade until they have played the game.
