Couldn't find a thread for this from last year so decided to go ahead and make a new one

Preferred last years showing of the multiplayer stuff but still think it looks ace.

"You want sit on the couch and beat up your buddy, right?"

That was creative director Jason VandenBerghe's irresistible argument for having split-screen in melee combat game For Honor. He said that to GameSpot when For Honor was announced back at E3 2015. He said split-screen was "absolutely a key feature" and "super-required".

It's been canned

strawberry floats sake, I absolutely hate the move away from couch co-op/split screen in gaming nowadays.

I've cleared my Boomerang list and sent back a game so hopefully I should get this on release day.

Got playing the beta for about 45mins after a 30gb dl :fp:

Did the training and some games on the mp. Good fun for what I did get to play (as a knight), but it did feel a little button mashy despite efforts to give depth to the combat. One I'll wait til cheaper methinks.

Same here! I haven't played the beta or read much about it. But I am glad to see there is a single player campaign.

Doesn't seem to be much talk about this game. Is it any good?

Considering it only got released today and most people are at work are you really that shocked at the lack of response?
Seriously, how many people would take a day off for this game?

From what I've seen of the game, it's definitely geared towards online play although it does have a SP element (from what I can tell (I could be wrong) you can play a SP campaign and also with and against AI teams on MP maps, for instance, and still earn rewards - pretty good, imo, and I wish more developers would do that kind of thing).

I haven't purchased it because I think it's more of a 'when it's on sale' game for me - and I decided to spend the money on Sniper Elite 4 instead. But I think it looks intriguing and I look forward to seeing it on sale some way down the road.

1. Don't take me seriously (except point 3 below).
2. People have been playing the beta before today.
3. Shut your face, Peter.

I tried the beta, did the training, thought it was dull, tried 1 online match, which was 5 v 5, looked at fighting the guy in front of me 1v1, thought nah, ran over to another person matched 1v1, and killed the guy as we were 2v1, turned round killed my original guy who finally caught me up, and won the round, did the same again, and then on the 3rd their whole team quit, and the game crashed as one of them was the host.

Uninstalled it, to me the multiplayer seems fundamentally floored, and the fact it relies on hosts that are going to quit when things are going badly compounds that.

I've really enjoyed what I've played of it, if there's a good community about it I reckon it could thrive. It's like a mix of Fighter and a Souls game. It looks gorgeous too. I do wonder how long it will remain fresh for as some of the online stuff does start to feel a bit samey but I'm hoping the single player will be great fun and provide a good chunk of time away from just hammering noobs online.

Fundamentally it's just a well designed duelling game and is a lot of fun to play when you have the basics under your belt. There's plenty of depth in the mechanics too, just do a YouTube search to find some really great players taking on 3/4 people at a time and just schooling them.

It so unique it's definitely worth a try.
