While in London last week a friend made me find this store for him. It's probably the most bizarre shop I've ever been to in my life.

There were a bunch of fully grown adults in there looking at toys, and downstairs there was a library of books which were back to front. Now, I know there are certain types of people who like this sort of thing and fair game to them, but the thing which shocked me most was the sheer amount of people in there who looked perfectly respectable (and in one case, dare I say it, physically attractive).

Do you guys visit this shop? I got the impression some of the people in there actually lived in the bookcases after dark.

You're asking people who are browsing a gaming message board at quarter past midnight on a school night whether they've ever been to Forbidden Planet?

Which Forbidden Planet are you talking about? There are two Forbidden Planet companies in the UK.

Also, they are good shops, the only time I have been disgusted to be in that shop was when a bunch of Naruto Cosplayers descended on the store :fp: . I have also met Stewart Lee in Forbidden Planet and that guy is cool.

Forbidden Planet was the highlight of my first ever visit to London when I used to live down in sunny Devon. I was barely 18 - yes, that's how long FB has been in the business (I'm 45 now). Of course, it used to be in New Oxford Street (just past Tottenham Court Rd, around the back of Centre Point), but they moved a few years ago to a swanky new place just down the road. The old shop really was a fanboy's den of iniquities - only the truly brave - or foolhardy - ventured downstairs to the darkened, dungeon-like realms of the comic collections, videos and film tie-in magazines. I picked up quite a few great magazines from there back in the day - long before all this videogame stuff rolled into town to distracted entire generations from the simple pleasures of reading Cinefex or Fangoria. How times change... And then when I lived for a year or two in Sarf London, imagine my delight to find that only a short train ride away in Croydon FB had a franchise. Happy days!
