I'm not sure which scenario is scarier, either a non-state entity has developed the ability to synthesis nerve agents or the Russians feel they can act with impunity. It's got to be option B, the increase in fly overs by Russian aircraft, Russian ships in UK waters etc is sabre rattling. And they can do it because NATO is nerfed.

Does anybody of sane mind seriously doubt that it was Russia?

If it walks like a duck and quacks like duck then it is Putin in a duck costume.

There was talk of boycotting the world cup and even brining it to the UK instead on the TV today. UK alone can't do much, but so far the US and France are supporting the UK so if there is enough international support, I'm sure things can be made uncomfortable for Putin.
If the allegations are true, it is strawberry floating out of order for Russia to use chemical weapons in the UK.

I wonder if anyone has explored connections between this person and Christopher Steele.

I've spoken to a couple of Russian friends who believe that it's Putin's opposition trying to undermine his chances at upcoming elections. I am not buying this.

Kill the former Russian spy, blame it on Moscow and use it as a pretence to cancel Brexit (Which she knows is lose/lose). Higher tensions with Russia (possibly leading to more serious events) put us in a position where "now is not the time" for Brexit. It allows her to appear strong and decisive, get's her out of the Brexit mess (Or very least punts it down the road a fair bit) and strengthens ties with our allies. The downside to this plan is potential nuclear annihilation though so that makes it unlikely (But still possibly preferable to Brexit).

I don't actually believe any of that by the way, but I enjoy thinking up alternative scenarios.

Brexit or nuclear holocaust...

Rex Tillerson sacked.

Probably shouldn't have blamed Russia for the nerve agent attack.

What a duplicitous fanny. I wouldn't put him in charge of a strawberry floating lemonade stand.

With his record in business, I would imagine the lemonade stand would have multibillion dollar debts by lunchtime.

Given his love of water sports you probably wouldn't want him in charge of your lemonade stand for other reasons as well.

If Russia nuke us before we leave the EU, do will still get kicked out at the deadline?

Another Russian has been found dead:

The death of a 68-year-old Russian man in London is being investigated by counter-terrorism police, Scotland Yard has said.

While officers are not naming him, he is believed to be businessman Nikolai Glushkov, who was top of a list of "fugitives from justice" published by the Russian embassy which accused him of committing "severe financial offences".

Scotland Yard said anti-terror police were investigating his death "as a precaution because of associations that the man is believed to have had".

But there was "no evidence", it said, "to suggest a link to the incident in Salisbury", adding that the death was being treated as "unexplained".

One of Mr Glushkov's friends was the late Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky who fled to London in 2000 following a row with Vladimir Putin.

Mr Glushkov, a former deputy director of the Russian airline Aeroflot, had also worked for Mr Berezovsky's LogoVAZ car company.

After Mr Berezovsky was found hanged in the bathroom of his Berkshire home in March 2013, Mr Glushkov told The Guardian he would "never believe" his friend took his own life.

An inquest into Mr Berezovsky's death recorded an open verdict.

Mr Berezovsky was also a friend of Russian dissident Alexander Litvinenko, who was poisoned with radioactive polonium-210 in London in 2006.

Oh, it was a military-grade nerve agent? I'd assumed it was just one of those over-the-counter ones.
