The jumping shotguners are the reason I only ever play this when other people I'm in a group with want to play it.
I really don't enjoy this solo as I just don't have the reactions needed to compete at close range and my sniping is laughable so the only way I can get kills is mid range and that's becoming more and more impossible as people can often build quicker than I can destroy the buildings they make and they just rush towards me while building and jump shotgun me.

Also played it last night on my X and got killed after killing a dude myself, no bad thing, was 22nd, but watched the guy who killed me to maybe earn some tips. He spent the entire game jumping...just jumping around....constantly? he got in top 3, if that's a valid tactic then I'm done with this game. Jumpy shotguns is one thing but jumping ALL THE TIME is another.

It's to avoid getting sniped. People have gotten so good with sniper rifles it's instant death to be walking along.

What about RUNNING along?

strawberry float knows man. I think it's a bit of a compulsive thing too like players you see constantly changing weapons when they're not fighting.

I don't know about sniper rifles, but you can skip the pump action on a shotgun by cancelling the animation into weapon changing into another shotgun. In some games the same works with the bolt pull on a sniper rifle.

Yeah I know what you mean with the double pump, I'm talking about people just walking around constantly changing weapons. I think you see it in Counter Strike a lot.

People just do that because it makes this kind of satisfying clicking sound, and because it's a tense game and when you're tense your fingers want to 'do something'. It doesn't solve a gameplay purpose. I've read something suggesting that back in CS1.6 it gave you a slight advantage by reducing the recoil on the first shot you took, but I'm pretty sure that's not why anyone does it nowadays!

In Overwatch I often just jump up and down if nothing else is happening. It doesn't achieve anything, it just satisfies the urge to do something.

There's a massive deadzone in my switch sticks that are making playing Fortnite really hard, It's odd cos I don't have any problem playing Rocket League to similar standard to my X1.

Played this on my lunch break and nearly every guy that came into the break room went "oh is that Fortnite?!" - turns out everyone on the planet has been playing this except me

Died early in a couple of rounds but managed to finish 4th in my last game, I had my headphones in and was a bit worried that people would hear me breathing loudly or making squeaks and squeals :slol: :slol:

Yeah I get that, I guess it's like jogging on the spot as you wait for traffic to pass as something. It's irritating yo watch though.

It's not quite the same, doing jumps in Mario Kart is essential to pretty much every corner.

From what I gathered in my lunchtime games, when you pick up a certain item (hot rock?) it increases your speed and jumping distance for a short time so you can traverse the map (and get into the safe zone) quicker than normal. I was jumping like a loon and it did make quite a difference.

Fire Hoping isn't a thing in MK8D, and I never firehoppped as you had to have a boost to extend. I would just do it and still do at random.

Hmm. Downloaded, but it won't connect to any games. Keeps popping increasingly annoying worded error messages.

Have the seven matches of the starting challenge complete on the Switch, and it feels fine. Looks a bit downgraded, but otherwise plays fine. Managed a few kills with that plunger explosive [though only one while I was still alive], and the last match had be SMG vs SMG to fall when the other person had 1HP left.
And if you find jumpy-shots annoying, there was someone employing jumpy-axe and almost succeeded in that manouever.

Urgh, second place on my third match. I found a minigun and hid in a house until the very last region shrink. The other side had built a massive tower and sniped me easily from the top though.
