“Fortnite’s launch went extremely well — we had more than 2 million downloads in less than 24 hours,” Reggie Fils-Aime, president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America, told Polygon in an interview at E3 2018 today. “I think that speaks to the power of the franchise, the engagement of our players and the resonance of being able to play it anytime, anywhere.”

I won singing like my 5th game just playing it doing things like that. Since trying to get better at playing the game 'properly' I don't enjoy it as much. If you want to get really good you'll have to learn how to build but I think that just playing it the way that makes sense to you is the way to go as you'll probably do things that people don't expect.

That's certainly a good first day for the game on Switch then, obviously being free helps massively but I do have to wonder how many of those will have bought skins and passes etc, Epic will be hoping a lot of people will.

My daughter has been playing Fortnite on the PS4 for the last few months, but I'd not really played it. Had a few games on the Switch last night and managed a 3rd and 4th place. I find it really tense. I'm not used to playing games online against other players.

Had a bash of this last night. No idea what the strawberry float was going on  . Seemed quite sparse, with everyone I saw just chopping down trees. I killed a few people but in the 30 mins or so I didn't really "get it".

I will see if i can find some kind of Youtube video explaining what it's about.

Not much to explain, land, find guns, stay inside circle which gets smaller every few minutes and to win you have to be last one standing. That's it.

The amount of players left is on top right under mini map. You can build in this to make temporary bases from cutting down trees for wood, stone for brick or metal (cars/metal gates) etc for metal structures.

Most useful form of building is to get to high up hills and/or mountains.

Hmm. I'll give it a couple more goes, but it doesn't seem like my kind of game.

This. I'd stopped playing competitive multiplayer games years ago after getting tired of being gooseberry fool at COD, so it's quite a culture shock to go back into it again.

Yeah the Br genre does lead to it being tense. No more so than PUBG, I mean compared to this you can be 1 head shot away from death. You die fast in this but if you've no armour in PUBG (even if you have) the TTK is tiny.

Imagine crouching in a house and then dying instantly form a sniper rifle...its terrifying. Playing duo's or squads makes it easier in both games cos you revert to being downed rather than killed.

Small update out as well

We just released Patch v4.4.1, you may have to restart to receive the update.

What can you expect? Shopping Carts have been re-enabled and replays from the Pro-Am can now be found inside Battle Royale clients.

People always say Nintendo are always years behind when it comes to online, guess it one of the few times when it's Sony who's the one behind.

This is grade A bullshit from Sony.

I get why they haven't gotten involved in crossplay, but THIS is hurting PlayStation owners more than anyone.

Stop being such banana splits already.

Not sure Sony will get away with it this time, Fortnite is massive compared to the games they've tried this gooseberry fool with in the past.

Every tweet on the Sony twitter account at the moment has replies which are almost 100% people complaining about this.
