Anyone else heading to Japan in August? Myself, Anung and Banjo are. We’ll be meeting Skarjo and G-rat at some point.

If anyone else is about for international BANTZ.

I'll be in London that day, just not in that area as i have tickets for the shard.
Everyone meet at the Shard, Vermilion has tickets.

Great, so Vermilion is paying for us all to go up the Shard

Anung's going to let Skarjo meet you?

Does he not know what Skarjo's like?

I'd struggle with the end of August, on account of being in Devon to see my mam for my birthday.

I'm in Brixham end of August. Meet?

Lets face it, not everyone is going to make this event or be happy on the location but i say we try and pencil something in for now'ish and for 6 months time...

We could do:

Manchester Meet n' meat: Aug / Sept
London Meet n' meat: March /April

An even every 6 months in different places, and whoever can make it - makes it.

Additionally:

International Meet n' meat: on an ad hoc basis
Glasgow get together: on an ad hoc basis

This sounds good, but I was just asking if anyone wanted to meet up in Reading lol

Yeah, about that, there was a typo in my post, it should have been 'a ticket' rather than 'tickets'

Actually you've got to buy everyone tickets or we get to sue you for false advertising. ;)

As a Reading resident, I feel I should attend.
But reading is a gooseberry fool hole and I actively try to avoid it.

The Hobgoblin or whatever it is called now was good a few years back when I was there for training but otherwise it was a bit grim.

It's now called the Alehouse (has been since before I moved here 4 years ago) but it's still v.good. Only problem is there isn't much space inside so it fills up quickly. I'm a fan because it's the only place I know in the centre that sells mead.

For similar pubs all in the centre there is the Nag's Head which always has a large and changing selection

Image

The Allied Arms which is v.small inside but has a good beer garden at the back

Image

And my personal favourite place in Reading centre, The Sun Inn

Image

Reading has a lot of good bars and places to eat in the centre, I don't think it deserves the bad rep! There's Milk Bar for the hipstery rum cocktails in an attic experience, the Botanist for a more upmarket night, Bierhaus for German drinking, the Oakford often has live music, Brewdog just opened down the road from Zero Degrees microbrewery, and all of riverside is nice if somewhat commercial/full of chains. Oh and I unironically like going to the Purple Turtle.

Was the Nag's Head one of the ones we went to, OR? I remember it being rather small inside. The beer tent was nice, though.

Yeah it was, the one we walked too far down the road past and had to turn around to get back to that definitely wasn't my fault.
