Well T10 have made the decision for me because being a videogame released in 2017, it will have loot boxes paid for with real money.

There won’t be just one type of crate either, as players will be able to choose between multiple variations — the assumption being the more cash you put down, the better rewards you can reap. Contents of each box include items such as driver outfits, mods and even rare cars.

Although FM5 had tokens and boosters and gooseberry fool, the game threw enough money at you to make them genuinely irrelevant. I kind of overlooked the mod card bollocks in 6 as it was for career mode only but putting actual cars behind blind purchasing boxes is taking the piss. There is literally no reason for this other than greed; as if £80 for the 'ultimate' edition just wasn't enough money. I am disappoint.

Also note how this comes out long enough after the announcement that lots of people will have pre-ordered without knowing. I'm glad I held off as i will be waiting until this time next year before considering getting it either digitally in a sale or preowned on xbone so they get none of the money.

It will be the unicorns behind the crates. If its stupid gooseberry fool like the painted promos they give out to VIPs I cant see any banana split ever buying a single one.

"At Launch, Loot Boxes Are Only Available Via In-Game Credits", not sure where you got paying with real money from but nothing announced yet. Probably somewhere down the line though but it's not effected me in previous Forza games.

"At launch", meaning long enough for people to stop paying attention before turning on the pay option, as in FM6. That didn't bother me as you were paying for tokens to buy cars with directly or for singleplayer mod packs which weren't content per se. With this actual cars and driver gear will be locked away behind deliberately low drop rates and almost-gambling where before such systems didn't exist and have no reason to.

Game has gone Gold with a demo on the 19th Sep -

The official demo for Forza Motorsport 7 is coming for both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. The demo features three unique racing experiences in Forza Motorsport 7, showcasing the depth and breadth of the experiences available in the game. Drive the Forza Motorsport 7 cover car – the Porsche 911 GT2 RS – to the brand-new Dubai circuit and experience the thrill of navigating the Jebel Hafeet Pass, one of the most famous driving roads in the world. Or, pilot the massive Mercedes-Benz Tankpool racing truck to victory at the high-speed Mugello circuit in Italy.

For drivers who want the ultimate test, the Nissan NISMO GT-R LM is available for a race at the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit. Here, fans will be challenged to handle the ‘Ring’s complex corners and elevation changes, while also tackling the dynamic track conditions that will make racing in Forza Motorsport 7 so breathtaking. Racing through rainstorms laced with thunder and lightning make for a visual showcase and for a challenge like no other – where dynamic puddles grow and shrink with the intensity of the rain.

The Forza Motorsport 7 demo will feature assists that will allow players to dial in the difficulty the way they see fit; and for PC players there will performance options to adjust the experience to each player’s PC performance capabilities. For the full list of PC specs supported by Forza Motorsport 7, check out our recent story on ForzaMotorsport.net.

It looks fantastic, even for a series known for looking good, and the weather stuff is impressive, however I just can't justify the £80+ RRP for the best value edition (as i'd get everything or nothing at all) or 90GB hard disk space when I have so many other forza/horizon and other racing games unfinished. I'm a big casual playing with auto shifting and a couple of assists using a controller, so probably am missing a lot of the nuance of changing track conditions. I find that graphics are one of the first things you gradually stop noticing in racing games as you become familiar with the environments and focus on what you're doing than the prettiness of it over time, which at its core is largely the same. Beyond the bells and whistles its still the same core forza experience, which I have spent plenty on over the years and have yet to exhaust to make the large up-front cost worth it at the moment.

Also picking the rarity of racing suit really grinds my gears as evidence of the blind microtransaction bullshit sneaking into my once beloved franchise

Worked fine for me first time. Game runs beautifully with no difference between having it set to Dynamic (Ultra) to setting everything manually to their highest with bench-marking and actually playing the game.

Weather effects look great especially when it stops raining with the sun setting. Pain in the arse that I had to press the bloody Xbox guide button to take a pic, need to sort a shortcut for that.

I was deciding between this and PCars 2 and went with PC2.

They introduced a bug in a patch for FH3 on PC that makes the game completely crash with no warning or recovery at random intervals. Its existed for a few months now. I have no doubt Ill get FM7 at some point due to the crossplay, but Im going to hold off to see what their long term PC support is like.

Also PC2 had the almost empty gesture of offering a 10% discount if you owned PC1.

I forgot i have pcars 1 barely played too :dread: another one on the pile...

EDIT: also it rustles my jimmies that there barely seem to be any game journos who can talk about racing games with any degree of enthusiasm or insight; i've listened to several podcasts where they spend 20+ minutes vigorously tugging each other off over Pyre, Destiny 2 or whatever while digging into the mechanics in forensic detail, but when it comes to racing games like pcars or forza the most you get is "they made another one of those i guess. It looks nice though but it isn't twitchbait, indie pixelshit or doesn't have social/gender issues i can get into twitter arguments about to use on slides at a PAX presentation."

I'm getting so annoyed about this that i've become tempted to start a purely racing game podcast in response, however nobody would listen to it.
