Forza Motorsport (XSX|S/Win 10/Game Pass) - Update 8 out now.

Not quite sure how the AI levels work in this really, currently on setting 6 and (starting mid pack, 12-15th) I can quite easily get 3rd or 2nd depending on the track, but 1st finishes well out in front, pulling almost 0.5-1 second a lap on the field. Not sure if it’s just the lead car that’s actually classed as skill level 6 and the ones behind go back on a sliding scale? Or I’m just slow and need to drop it down to 5 to win :lol:

Edit, also can’t help but hear someone doing a Jude Law impression when the voice over guy starts talking.

So I’ve had another go. I had to increase wheel damper from 20 to 60 and it’s muuuuch better. Actually feels really good with the lower class cars now and the racing is good. Some tracks are very narrow, but I’m starting to find some joy with the wheel now. I’ve also got tc on sport, sc off and abs on. It’s good for now, I’ll wait for some more pros to catch up.

Tyre noise and squeal is actually really good. The ai is a bit weird, but I do like starting near the back and fighting through.

Fuel is weird. Why do they always overfuel? Seems pointless.

They also need to bring the moza preset in. I can’t advance the menus from the wheel. So I have to use mouse and keyboard. Just needs some time. Annoying when sat in the rig though.

I think I upped that to about 30-35, might try going a little higher as well then, while it’s taken a setting video and then a few tweaks, this still felt better from the off than the past couple of F1 games have done.

The Ai fuel is odd, but they seem odd for the player too, at a wet race, I couldn’t change to wet tyres when the rest were starting on them, no idea if this is intended or a glitch though.

Yeah. Bit strange. Moza software is weird as there are more settings that apply at the os level and then the game operates within them. He had a moza r12 (12 NM of torque). I have the R5, 5NM, and the g29 (the wheel is great and I upgraded from it is 2.9NM).

But yeah, maybe raise the wheel damper, possibly tc on sport. Feels much tighter for me.

F1 2023, I find it’s gooseberry fool unless you put the wheel rotation down to 300, then it’s nice and snappy.

Found myself looking at the Moza bundle that supports Xbox earlier :shifty:

Really can't justify it though, only had the G923 since it came out (late 2020 I think?) so hopefully I can get a few more years out of it yet. I upped the damper to 40 and it does feel better now.

To be honest, I don't think I'm actually quicker with a wheel these days, in games like ACC, a wheel is definitely quicker but in this I don't think a pad player would be at a disadvantage really, wheel is just a load more fun to play with.

Yeah, this is made for it so it’s got some nice dead zones in there to make it less twitchy. F1 2023 is improved but so hard to be fast on a pad. The guys in our league really struggle against the wheel users because of the finer control.

I’m learning manual on this and it’s ok because at the moment it’s slower paced. It’s so hard on f1 but I’m on that curve now.

So the moza R3 is a bit of cheat, it’s there to wipe the g29s out which are the market leader for non DD starter wheels. The R5 isn’t much of a jump in price. The difference is mega. The force is a lot smoother and more significant.

I've no plans to upgrade anytime soon, if I mainly played racing games/sims I'd have probably upgraded to a direct drive wheel, but theres just that much out there to play I'd feel like I'm not getting my monies worth from it, the G923 does me fine for now, if it ever breaks then I'd just make the jump to a DD wheel, stuck religiously with Logitech in the past, but they only do one DD wheel and thats about a grand for the wheel alone, another £350 for the pedals unless you buy them together so you get a bit of a discount.

Currently in the Supra (mainly so I don't have to buy a car for a cup until I have no suitable cars in my garage), it feels awful, the understeer is worse than normal, the traction is awful, it has the odd medium speed corner where it feels ok to manage the loose rear end but other than that it feels like it wants to kill you :lol:

This is very fun isn't it. Cracked and got the Gamepass upgrade after all.

I dont know if ive missed the stat tracking in this. Are the driver levels in the race menus?
Are all car upgrades locked down behind car levels? - Im sure there was a setting to turn this off? - Is there any penalty to turning car levels off?
Previous FMs had race lap record leaderboards - this doesnt appear to have these. seems like a backward step. Are these now rolled into rivals?

FYI a wheel in this type of game is more for the fun and immersion of it than pace, it won't make much if any difference over a pad. I guarantee some of the very top times will be from pad users. And a wheel isn't an instant ticker to being faster, you can often be slower when you switch to one until you get used to it. When j got my first one back in the Gran turismo 4 days, I was gutted when I was a big chunk slower than my pad pace for an embarrassingly long time.

Gonna be olaying this for a very long time, and I guess thats the point.

That’s weird. What assists you using? Maybe the settings need some tweaking to work for all cars.

Steering set to simulation, all other assists off bar ABS, so might try putting TC on medium first before switching car, the past 3 races I've used the Supra in, the rear has been a little twitchy but nothing like this.

Yeah. I was trying in the corvette and it was a bit twitchy. The problem is that if you put tc medium you can’t spin the car round easy. TC kicks in to stop you.

I might turn it back off again and try a gt3 car.

I still don’t think I’ve found the sweet spot for settings and I reckon there are some things that will help. Problem is loads have contradictory settings.

I like it. It’s got a lot of life in it. I’m hoping to play this and ACC for the winter. Moving away from f1 after this league season ends.

Tried putting it onto sport, lowering the pressures to high 20s and managed to get 3rd, happy with that. I seriously hope this isn’t what an actual real life Supra drives like, I’d be taking it back :lol:

I’ll be keen to try the GT3 cars, they’re literally designed to be driven with TC and ABS on, so TC set to sport would probably be the most realistic really.

Does anyone know if the "featured" tournaments expire? - There are ones that only start next week, then the week after, but the one thats currently ope - will that get closed when the next one opens?

Racing in a thunderstorm, everyone else on wet tyres, I’m locked into street tyres….
