The worse this does the less likely they are to try again meaning eventually marvel will get the rights back and hopefully do it justice.

I don't think you can count on that. Marvel's success means Fox (like Sony with Spider-man) will never want the rights to revert, meaning we'll just get another reboot in a few years time so they can hold onto them.

But will they? This is on course to be a huge financial disaster, costing them money rather than making it. Do you really think the execs will want to keep hold of movie rights that COST them money every few years JUST to stop Marvel from profiting with them.

They didn't with Daredevil and I think this will scare them enough to think FF are not viable for future movies.

They've lost 100's of millions of dollars. And the slight chance of damaging the X-Men brand that they profit from.

They have the X-Men universe still, I don't really see what they need Fantastic Four for (basically 4 people with mutant like powers... something they're not short of with the X-Men licence). The enemies are really the only thing worth keeping the licence for.

They'd do better to use the money from maintaining the Fantastic Four rights and use that to fund further X-Men universe movies to keep those rights instead.

This is being pulled from theatres now. It's reached about $130 million worldwide which is about half of what it needs to break even.

Fox, had Hitman out this weekend too which also crashed and burned.

The original script with Mole Man and Galactus sounds quite interesting actually.

Unused Designs For H.E.R.B.I.E. & Fantasticar Surface In Latest FANTASTIC FOUR Concept Art
To say 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four had a bad summer is a bit of an understatement as the Josh Trank-directed reboot managed to only gross a little over $146.8 million worldwide on an estimated $120 million budget. If the film manages to perform well in Japan & Italy, there's still a very slim chance the film manages to cross $200 million worldwide later this year.

A few weeks ago, we learned that at some point in the production process, Trank wanted to include the Fantastic Four's robot sidekick H.E.R.B.I.E. and their flying car, the Fantasticar. Unfortunately (or fortunately?), neither made the final cut after Fox's president of production Emma Watts nixed the idea, possibly due to the similarities between H.E.R.B.I.E. and Star Wars: The Force Awakens' BB-8. Regardless of them not being used in the film's theatrical release, conceptual artist Fausto De Martini has now released his original designs for both H.E.R.B.I.E. and the Fantasticar on his own personal Facebook page.

Check out De Martini's cool concept art below:
