HOW?!
Seeing Friends on TV with its grainy 480p 4x3 image I've dreamed of watching friends in HD but thought it impossible because it was recorded in US standard definition. Will these be upscaled episodes or were they actually recorded in HD?

EDIT: browsing the internet I've been reading that the series' were shot on Film and being reconverted. 1&2 have been done. People saying it makes a big difference. I will wait until the Blu-rays come out, and then I will watch Friends in HD until my dying days.

EDIT EDIT: strawberry float ME this gooseberry fool is real. They are proper 16x9.

Just finished watching through the boxset. I didn't actually mind series 10. I remember not being a big fan of it, and whilst it was nowhere near as amazing as the earlier series, it was still pretty good. Plus Rachel looks absolutely amazing in it. Especially in her slutty little skirt with knee high boots in the last episode

Afterwards I watched the outakes on the bonus disc. An hour long! But some were absolutely hilarious.

100% going to get the HD boxset when it's released.

Preceeded by Ellen!

I remember watching it when it was first on in 1994. I was 11 and recall asking people about it the following Monday at school and they were all 'wtf is Friends?'

There's quite a few from the era that were recorded on film. Frasier and Everybody Loves Raymond are already on Comedy Central HD. I hear Seinfeld was recorded on film but I don't know if that has been shown anywhere yet in HD.

As much as I hate this show, it's a pretty amazing conversion job to HD there.

Such a shame, how they ruined that character.

This. The went from it being like "oh joey you lad, you're so silly but brilliant" all the way to "wow Joey actually needs a carer"

That pretty much happened to all the characters over the 10 seasons though didn't it-they became more and more exaggerated versions of their earlier selves.

Rachel ironically became less of a caricature.

Sort of related...

Really old episodes of Law and Order are shown in HD on FX.

Recording on film

I just put it on ComedyCentral and it's the top 50 Friends episode. The episode with Eddie in where Chandler tries to kick him out is only No. 33?!? That is such a good episode, yet in the top 20 they have standard episodes from the later series :fp: .

Gotta say though, the HD episodes look great. Very impressed.

Loving this, not seen these eps in widescreen and HD of course, and the picture is pretty good.

Shame the audio was out of sync on that last episode... sure it will be fixed soon.

I am on virgins lightest tv package and have this channel free for a month!
