Hi guys,
So as some of you may be aware I completely ruptured my ACL ligament (middle of the knee for those who don't know) in November 2011 and I had the surgery to reconstruct it in August last year.
After a long and arduous rehabilitation I'm almost back to normal now, and I'm returning to playing rugby this season. The surgeons did a fantastic job on my knee, however I think most of the thanks should go to the physiotherapy department who not only built me back to functional health, but then kept me on further to ensure I would be fit to play rugby again.
So I've decided to run a 5km to raise funds for their rehabilitation gym. This gym helps people suffering from many illness and complaints built up their fitness and get back to health much quicker than normal recovery procedures. Any and all funds I raise will help buy new equipment, maintain existing equipment and pay for the admin costs of the fantastic volunteers who help run the group sessions.
While 5km doesn't seem much to the residents of the running thread, considering 11 months ago I couldn't walk 100 meters I think it's pretty good.
