*Splinter Cell.

Too long ago:

Me on a shitty broadband connection on original XBL, chatting to Level_7_Boss who's got a heavy Irish accent: So what've you been playing?

L7B: Sprunnerell.

Me: ...

Me: Wha?

L7B: Sprinterell.

Me: ...er.

L7B: *expletives* Y'know, Sam strawberry floating Fisher.

Me: Oh! SPLINTER CELL!

lol

On the one hand, a return to classic Splinter Cell is absolutely what I wanted

On the other hand... I have played Splinter Cell. Make a new game!

Seeing the sun beams shine through the warehouse in the first Splinter Cell on my OG Xbox was amazing.

Only played it for about ten minutes, obvs, but it sure was neat.

"We are adding Blockchain NFTs to our splinter cell remake to add extra depth, with uniquely numbered suits/goggles so players really get to own their gameplay"

Whatever you remember Splinter Cell to be, it will not be whatever this is, which will wear it's face like a mask.

I really wanted to like Splinter Cell when it first came out but it was too darn hard. I played a 360 one that was really boring, I’m sure he was rocking an elbow patch jumper. If it’s done right then a remake would be pretty good.

Yes I am happy they've decided to go for a remake!

I created a thread a while back about it.

We'll have a hat-trick of Splinter Cell threads when they finally release this in 4 years time.

I’m glad they’ve FINALLY decided to bring it back, but JESUS CHRIST how devoid of ideas do you have to be to remake the original Splinter Cell.

Fingers crossed it’s better than their attempt at rebooting Prince of Persia (2003).

Ubisoft....Splinter Cell.... Who's ready for Open World Spliter Cell.....

I enjoyed the old games, they were different from alot of the games at the time. Will be interesting to see how they bring it up to the next-gen.

This leaked a few weeks ago. And the leak said… It’s going to be open world.

Seems that they're sticking with the old style rather than the rumoured open world approach:

Matt West, producer of the game, wrote:So, as we're building it from the ground up, we're going to update it visually, as well as some of the design elements to match player comfort and expectations, and we are going to keep it linear like the original games, not make it open world.

Such a great description.

That's how I felt and still feel about the new FF7 but look how many still played and enjoyed that!

Doesn't that explicitly play on being a remake though? Like being different to the original is actually a plot point. FF7 sounds really interesting as a remake to me because it's very much not a 1:1 remake with fancier graphics, but a different game.

Yes, it's total wank.

edit: Seriously though, I'd have been fine with that if they'd said it was a reimagining from the get go. I wouldn't have played it, but I also wouldn't be hating it right now and forever.

Conflicted. I bloody love Splinter Cell, and although I badly wanted a new one, I wasn't too confident it would be 'proper Splinter Cell'.

It's hard to get excited by remakes though. I guess for me it all comes down to if we'll be seeing new mechanics based on the superior tech available today. Hopefully none of the Mark and Execute stuff from the last 2. Very cool mechanics, but again, it's just not Splinter Cell.

One thing I didn't get why the most people complaint about no Splinter Cell game for years?

Since they've announced it and yet they are all still complaining about it.

:fp:
