Will probably get this. Would be nice to keep it with my SNES mini when I get it. Could bundle the two together and sell them at some point.

Better than spending £13 on the last edge mag anyway.

Used to read it and it's up there with official Nintendo magazine and games master for pure happy memories. I remember getting a letter published in super play, happy times indeed.

Wish my image sig would work

I had to laugh at an auction for this on eBay - £20, and the following in the item description:

"Brand new and unread therefore in great condition and available at a cheaper price that the high street."

Er, it's £5.99 on the High Street...

How many pages does the Super Play magazine have? Is it a full magazine, or just more of a suppliment?

It's definitely worth it - absolutely packed full of contents and there are no ads within the magazine.

I've loved reading through it, especially as I read the magazine during the SNES era.

This also makes me sad at the death of physical magazines - it's just not the same reading online.

Disappointing it's only 52 pages, but I picked up a copy at lunch regardless.

I grabbed a copy today. It's ace; 116 retro-fuelled pages including great articles on the PC Engine, Moon Patrol and Medal of Honor.

Oh, and the bonus Super Play mag is kinda okay, too.
It is very well produced, using the same layout and colour design as in the original mags - even using the old Future logo on the cover  . The reviews use wonderful, large images and plenty of them; the appearance is far more exciting than the comparatively dull impression given in modern mags. The reviews show both the original score percentage and the modern assessment. The mag includes a couple of Switch gaming adverts from Nintendo - lovely to see and it took me back to the glory days of Official Nintendo Magazine. The mag is a really nice bonus and I hope that sales will encourage Future to include further one-off specials of this kind with other issues of Retro Gamer.

The editor does say at the front if it's a success they may do more.

N64, ARCADE and Amiga Power seem like obvious contenders.

Amiga Power would be ace, KK! I'm thinking about Crash and Zzap! 64* versions, too...

ARCADE please.

Oh and Total! for my own nostalgic feels. They'd need to get Steve Jarrett and Andy Dyer back for it. I'd take Frank O'Conner as well but he's too busy being the big man at 343 Industries (He's been working on Halo since at least Halo 3 I believe).

ARCADE could still exist today, and I would love it to, but you're unlikely to get N64 or Amiga Power back (bar for an instance like this). But I suppose you could just do special retro review editions.

I've just remembered Computer and Video Games, which I could see them more likely to go for than ARCADE.

I think it'd be amazing if they did one issue of the Official PlayStation magazine in the style of the original, with cover disc and case. I dunno, maybe Sony would be funny about it - particularly adopting the old masthead.

I subscribed to both Amstrad Action and Commodore Format when they were way past their peak popularity - probably about 1994 - and their final few issues were sixteen (16!) pages... but they still came with a cassette / disk  . Even so, the writers were so passionate about the systems that they were still worth it  .

I transferred some of the demo tapes to disc so I could play the demos over and over. I never did beat that space marine demo but i played it as much as a full game.

Ordered online - this is first magazine I've bought in at least 5 years.
