So we're not supposed to know who these people are in relation to GOT? I'll be happier if that's the case as I can stop trying to guess.

Yeah, I think you can stop guessing-this is meant to be 5-6 generations (I think!) before Daenerys

As long as you expect the most dull and useless character to eventualy become ultraking or whatever then you'll be ok.
All the good characters will get slowly murdered or exiled.

I signed up to now TV again for this so hopefully the ending isn't monumentally stupid this time :shifty: .

After despising the finale of GoT I'm actually surprised that this has sucked me back in! Really loved hearing the remixed theme at the end!

Matt Smith and the girl playing his neice seem inspired choices. Rhaenyra looks so spookily like Daenerys.

I'm the same as you. I was pretty uninterested due to GOT's final season, but really enjoyed the first episode.

i enjoyed episode 2 a lot more than episode 1, shall carry on watching it now. the show has got me, though will probably still not go on to watch GOT, there's a lot of episodes to catch up with there.

It's decent so far but I've not read the book this time so I'm curious where it's going to go and how it's going to fill 2+ seasons. Game of Thrones had so many different stories going on at once, you'd get maybe 15 minutes of each per episode, it would only occasionally go all in on one location for the big episodes.

They're also already doing the characters teleporting to locations thing the later seasons of GoT got criticised for.

Watching episode 2 now and I’m still very much in the thought of its ok, but not amazing like the early series of GoT was. You can tell this definitely has the budget of the later series of GoT though and the casting has generally been fantastic, much like it was in GoT. Again, getting the series back to the political intrigue after it became almost predictable towards the end of GoT is also very good.

Also, I understand why they are switching the actor for Rhaenyra due the time jump needed to get from the current point in time to the time of the Dance of Dragons, but its a shame as the current actor is doing a stellar job so it’ll be interesting to see how the other actor does in their place.

I think I read online that the elder version was cast first, and the younger version was cast because they did such a good job of mimicking their temperament. So that's probably a good sign if everyone reckons they're doing well.

Indeed yeah, great episode again. Really enjoying this show. I’m assuming once the older actors are brought in the time jumps will stop or at least significantly slow down.

Something with this show just isn't clicking for me, and it's a bit worrying that we're now 3 eps in. Even that final battle felt a bit flat for me because I just don't really care enough. None of the characters have particularly engaged me. I'm not suggesting that the show needs its own Tyrion (light relief) or Jon Snow (hero archetype) but it's lacking the 'so what?' factor. Not sure about the time jumps either. When you consider how much might happen on a season of GoT, randomly moving nearly 3 years from one ep to the next (with a
10-15-year time jump
to come), I feel like we're catching up with plot rather than understanding the characters on a deeper level.
