Never seen it.

There is no option for me in the poll.

No option for me. :(

I didn't notice this, despite watching the credits every time. This might be because, without fail, my partner and I would break into an air cello duet as soon as the strings dropped. Sometimes I'd switch it up with a violin, I don't really know strings that well.

If you play the cello AND the violin you are being far too modest.

The credits would also sometimes be quite spoilery as they'd give the names of the actors about to feature in that episode...

When the Hound was brought back they instead went with a cold open for that very reason.

I don't remember him coming back at all!

Watched the first episode of season 5 tonight.

Want to say it’s episode 6 of series 5 that he comes back into it. Great episode in my opinion in a slightly lacklustre 5th series.

Edit, was a series too early, it’s back end of series 6 he comes back into it.

He comes back with Lovejoy doesn't he?

Yes, I too thought most people knew this but it’s likely most casual viewers don’t. It was a clever way to encourage people to watch the into rather than skip.

The poll should be updated to include not noticing / remembering Lovejoy was in it.

Maybe he was in the opening credits each week.

We watched hardhome last night, which was great and all that, but watching the whole series so quickly really brings the shift in tone to the front. It's becoming far more up front with story telling now with things starting and being resolved in a single scene, whereas they might have played out over a few episodes before. I definitely prefer the early tone of dialogue heavy extended scenes to fighting.

The long scenes with Tyrion and Tywin were a joy.

Agreed. Hardhome was arguably the last highlight, and came during an otherwise bleak season. S6 had its highs but was strangely predictable. Can't top seasons two through four IMO

Series 6 is slightly better overall that series 5 in my opinion, series 5 really only had Hardhome as the notable bit of it, alongside the ending scene too (well I think it’s one of the last scenes). It absolutely butchered the Dorne plot which is shaping up to be one of the most interesting ones in the books, series 6 wasn’t great but better overall than series 5, The Broken Man is a great episode, Winds of Winter is also very good, despite knowing what’s going to happen, the opening portion of that episode is very good, borderline fantastic compared to the majority of series 5/6. Battle of the Bastards was merely ok, very predictable but still enjoyable.

Even with GRRM apparently assisting on the main story beats throughout, series 1 to 4 seem a world away from series 5 to 8.

I always felt books 1-3 were vastly superior to everything that came after, so the show sort of marries up to that. The show-writers did well to make S4 as good as they did, the book was largely dull by comparison. So I give the show some brownie points for that.

The best bit of GoT will always be the moment when Tyrion shot his father with an arrow when he was on the toilet.

Bumping this to say we watched the penultimate episode the other night (the destruction of kings landing).

What a complete load of nonsense it was. Even worse than I remember from when it first aired. Watching the whole thing back to bag really shows just how bad the final two series actually are, with this last one just being flat out awful. It's like someone just made a generic high budget dragon attack show and slapped game of thrones characters in there. Cersi just stands at a window for the whole thing and then goes ON NO and runs to a cellar.

It was downhill from series 5 anyway, it just went off the edge as soon as they thought going north of the wall was a good plan partway through series 7.
