I thinking the other day that the books would make a good tv series

Just started the fourth book A Feast For Crows and I think the fifth book is released in July this year.

I might Kindle the books and give them a read. Still trying to get through Girl With a Dragon Tattoo though :fp:

There's 10 episodes in the 1st season. They've probably all been shot by now.

This is true, he does refer to her by that name while Bran is spying through the window/opening (I just looked at the book). The chapter never says who the man is but it's fairly obvious. I think Bran notices how similar they look in appearance as well.

'The things I do for love' indeed.

Yeah, I did pick up on that. I believe its...
Jaime?

I may be wrong as I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the different characters.

Just read past the wedding of Dany. Sounds like a wild party. :D

Is that the bit where Viserys gets 'crowned'?

Because that bit was awesome.

Hmmm, I don't think I'm going to end up liking these books after all.

I hate when bad things persistently happen to characters you are supposed to like...perhaps thats not it actually, I hate when the author decides to kill them all off, for no real pay off.

It can be annoying but it makes the story so unpredictable. You honestly never really know how things will pan out.

I have to admit, whilst I loved all the books, I did find that particularly frustrating. A few of the characters I really liked were killed off. It's been so long since I read it so I've forgotten a lot of the names, but the young king at the "red wedding" was one of the biggest shocks. although I guess in a sense that made it much more unpredictable and exciting.

Edit: just had a quick browse on Wiki - I'd totally forgotten about Tyrion Lannister, easily one of my favourite characters.

Its not that unpredictable, if you like a character, chances are they are going to die for nothing.

I don't find that particularly unpredictable or exciting.

I wouldn't say it's that part really myself. It's more the persistent, constant fuckery that happens to nice people ALL THE TIME while the evil and malicious carry on as normal that wears me. You know they'll get their comeuppance but the sheer clusterfuck that happens to everyone you like always brings it down.

Book three is the ultimate example of 'strawberry floating with the good guys'. I read both parts in a week and a half.

Seriously though, the Red Wedding was just shocking. The Starks are having shitty luck, Rob and Eddard are dead, Cat died and came back as a zombie, Bran is paralyzed and Arya is currently blind. Sansa hasn't exactly been in the best of situations, and strawberry float knows where Rickon is.

Sucks to be them, although Jaime and Tyrion are my favourites. Jaime in particular becomes pretty likable when he gets his own POV chapters. He's still a complete bastard though.

Yes! Can't wait to see him in the series, definitely one of the most interesting characters in the book.

Just ordered the first book off amazon, pretty hyped for this series and can't wait till I can actually read all the stuff in spoiler tags

I dunno if I'll get it finished before Season 1 finishes on TV so might just wait till it's over before I start the book.
