It is a bit of a plot hole, I guess you can explain the Hound etc not having it by saying they didn't know about it and Jon didn't expect to meet them. Or maybe Jon's plan was more of a stealth mission, grab a dead guy and run without the White Walkers seeing them and so he didn't bother grabbing any of the dragonglass from the mountain of dragonglass he just left...

Jon's look behind was just it's happened, it's gooseberry fool but ive got other stuff to worry about.

No. He's been too seldom seen for us to invest too much pathos in his death. But they clearly pointed to it at the end of season 6. The show gives all sorts of little clues and has been doing for six seasons long. A lot of those hints or little seeds are now bearing fruit. The dagger being the most obvious example this season.

I love that you're second guessing my defensiveness, though. :P

I only wish I could be as invested in these characters as you, it'd be a lot more enjoyable. I don't think I'd care if anyone died now, theyve pulled so many walking dead level death fakeouts now that I'm numb to it all. I'm enjoying the LOTR pt4 as it seems to have become now but I yearn for the character driven stuff from earlier seasons. The walk and talk this episode was the closet we've had for ages and it was great.

Ah well, I guess the one upshot of this breakneck pacing and resulting plot holes/other weirdness (characters acting out of character, etc) is it just makes my reading the books that much more of a certainty.

It comes from the books mate.

You're lucky. You missed my passionate defence of the TDK trilogy.

Plus - there is still plenty of exposition this season. It's just that the show's producer's /writer's expect you to have been paying attention all along.

Clearly some of you haven't!

;)

Why did the dragons very specifically avoid that little corner where all the important Whitewalkers were stood?

There was never this many questions and massive holes in any of the other seasons.

I feel the decision to rush things along was a massive mistake.

I actually agree that the pacing issue has been a source of contention/ irritation.

A format change after six season of an established pattern is difficult to adjust to. Especially when the change of pace has gone from a slow burn to a breakneck pace. That last episode for example is the main one where the teleporting has bothered me.

The White King can clearly negate fire so would it really have been so hard for one of the dragons to attack them only for him to deflect it either via a shield or projectile?

The fact the 3 dragons pretty much nuke every single walker bar that corner really annoyed me. There seems like a lot of simple changes that could have been made that would have stopped some of these stupid plot holes from ever surfacing.

Yup. That's what's annoying me the most as well. I bet the excuse for it would be pacing but I'd rather that suffered (and I suspect it wouldn't have been that bad) than things turn out the way they have.

I actually can't wait to see the final final episode of this show and the resulting nerd rage there will most likely be. I remember the fallout over numerous shows, BSG sticking out in my head.

There's no way to satisfy everyone. Cracks seem to be showing with this and the change in pace seems good on one side, and jarring as strawberry float on the other.

BSG spoilers:

You think the last episode of GoT will be everyone flying away on the dragons to another planet that TURNS OUT TO BE EARTH 10,000 YEARS AGO???!!

So did anyone else notice the eyes on longclaw open as Jon climbed out of lake? What does that mean?

White Walkers are fire resistant (although unsure whether that includes dragon fire). Perhaps Drogon read it in a book.

I saw the gif of it and couldn't really see anything. I reckon it was just lighting if anything

No it's definitely real, no idea what it means though. It's about 1 second and you have to look closely
