I'm not enjoying the Arya/Sandals storyline very much at all. I'm hoping it turns out one or both of them are playing Littlefinger because at the moment it just seems like they're both being stupid.

Oh yeah don' get me wrong - it's a conflict that could easily be solved if they dropped the idiot stick. But they've both been hothead/idiots before, and it's more interesting than watching the nonsense upnorth. (Remember how overwhelming the wrights were at Hardhelm? We just basically needed these guys (and maybe a few more friends!) - given how comparatively easily they held ground here, they could totally hold a fortified position)

They attacked a village at hardhome. Full of vulnerable old people and children. While they were on the process of fleeing by ship.
This was a defence by seasoned warriors of a patch of land. They were about to be engulfed but were then rescued by the flying lizard 'plot armour /teleporting' trope.

Except that got flipped. Because the real bad guy. The Night King. Is a strawberry floating badass.
All too predictable to be fair. But still an amazing denouement.

I had tears in my eyes when he called her Dany.

And just a horrified admiration for that blue faced strawberry floater!

Yeah bit had walls, gates, guards etc = and a small group of traveling seasoned combat veterans. The unrelenting horde overwhelmed them in minutes, killing everyone including many "main-adjacent" characters = and everyone escaped by the skin of their teeth.

Here a small group of travelling seasoned warriors held off on open ground for...oh...about 20 hours for a dragon to arrive? (Yeah Wrights couldn't just go through the water or make a corpse mountain in the ice...for some reason). Redshirts and 1 guy succumbs to previous wounds is our causality list (I'm not counting Horse-Ex-Machina)

It's clunky disengaging storytelling personally that took a load of threat/menace from Winter.

(I was also annoyed that Dany "just in from Essos" had some stunning winter clothes ready - but that's a much smaller issue :P)

(Also if that Dragon, who got directly hit in his fire maker, can still breath fire, or ice, I'm gonna be mad...)

He got hit in the neck. The fire was passing through. That's what did more damage - it ruptured the wound making it larger.
I'd be interested in a discussion as to why he didn't go straight for Drogon but even I know that is plot driven.

And again - yes it was a bit daft but there's a big lull between the initial chase across the ice. Presumably the Lake re freezes somewhat. This is then revealed to the wights with the Hound's stone throw

On Drogon I like that he missed him by a whisker. The foreshadowing with the Scorpion was heavy handed but still cool.

OH gooseberry fool!!

Enjoyed that, loved that it focused mainly on the super friends. Was a bit annoying every time someone got killed, finding out it was a random Northerner that nobody knew was there. Battle was awesome, thought we were going to lose Tormund then.

So White walkers are killed instantly by Dragon glass, but wights aren't, and killing a white walker kills a bunch of wights.
How are white walkers and wights 'made'?

If Dany burned Dickon and his dad, does that mean fat scholar man is the head of the Tully faction now?

Even though I doubt Cersei is pregnant, if she is how's she going to explain that one to her kingdom?

Maybe she'll try the "He's Jesus" routine and say it was an immaculate conception.
She's so trustworthy and chaste I can't see anyone doubting that story.

If he is Jesus he can easily solve the lack of food problem :shifty: .

I am assuming that the White Walker's dragon will not breath fire anymore but ice? I've no idea how that works but no sillier than fire I guess.

Great episode imo. Loved the banter between the Hound and Tormund. When Tormund started talking about Brienne I thought he'd be dead by the end of the episode but I'm glad he's alive.

Dragons v Knight King was strawberry floating awesome!

Didn't Cersei say she'd tell everyone it was Jamie's? Nobody minded the incest amongst the Targaryian's, I guess she figures as Queen she can get away with it.

Actually, looking at the close up of the dragons it looks like they use the Reign of Fire dragon breath method of having 2 cobra like glands on the inside of their cheeks that produce jets of combustible liquids.

So fire breath makes sense.

Maybe the night king is just really good at chemistry and can make a concoction that produces a massively endothermic reaction and skilled enough at Dragon anatomy that he can swap them out.

This wasn't going anywhere specific, I just wanted to talk about Reign of Fire.

Sooooooo much nit-picking going on!

Yes there's a few holes but let's just enjoy. It was great. I'm still unsure on the white walker/ wights and how that all works

It's basically a medieval society, they would be riddled with lice. Makes sense to try and pick them out. :dread:

Night's Watch members and maesters surrender all claims to lands and titles. Sam doesn't get anything of House Tarly, his eldest sister does.

OK episode. Tormond is a great character now with some good banter.

Ayra / Sansa both seem to be being stupid, I hope theres a more sensibly resolution to that storyline.

Is the zombie dragon paying too much attention to fan theories? - it seems ive heard about that one ages ago.
Theres another fan theory that has been doing the rounds on reddit and i can see that coming true now.
...........Dany is Jons auntie right?

I still think the pacing/travel times are completely out of place. The hound said banana split about six times in that episode, it usually takes him a whole season to say it that many times.
