Really didn't like that at all. But then I had the main reveal at the end spoiled for me long ago by a poster they were using everywhere to advertise the new season.

The good side right now are looking like some of the biggest strawberry floating morons ever. Let's go all the way beyond the wall, to get an undead to show to Cersei, who won't give a strawberry float anyway and also lets donate a dragon to the undead's cause while we're at it because it's imperative that Cersei sees this dead guy...

And I won't even bother talking about those ravens.

I agree with you. I really didn't enjoy it at all. The spectacle was entertaining but the story line really has gone to gooseberry fool now. It's ridiculous.

She is, one of Brans visions all but confirmed Jon is a Targaryan.

That sort of detail doesn't matter to Targaryans, the dirty incestuous buggers that they are.

It's medieval times, I don't think anyone cares once it's beyond immediate family members. IIRC Ned Stark's parents were aunt and nephew.

Fake Edit: Okay they were cousins but still.

Gilly confirmed it in the previous episode. Dany's brother got an annulment, secretly married Ned's sister and they had Jon. Robert would have killed Jon (who was then and still is the rightful heir to the throne) and so Ned said Jon was his bastard son.

Was a bit worried by the first half of the episode, the fight with the giant bear thing was absolutely awful and having the group surrounded by the dead and was a bit obvious. Thankfully things did improve in the second half and I enjoyed the spectacle. It's nowhere near peak Game Of Thrones, but we're not exactly in Walking Dead territory yet.

No she's definitely gotten substantially hotter this season. No idea why.

Aside from a couple of small moments I didn't think much of that at all. Looked nice but I didn't really care about any of it. Zero peril in that whole part with the white walkers too, so was just kind of blankly watching it wondering who or what is going to appear to save Jon. I actually burst out laughing when Benjen appeared.

This whole plot with the group going to find a walker is just terrible.

I'm hoping something good comes of the sisters plot as they are both just being morons at the moment.

Probably my least favourite episode for a long time actually. Was pretty bored. Next episode should hopefully pick up a bit more.

Unfortunately it seems the closer characters get to one another, especially ones which have taken the scenic route before meeting up, either for the first time or as a reunion, the more likely they are to act really, really stupidly. (Daenerys being another prime example of this.)

As soon as the spear was picked up I said, "theyve already established big dead animals become zombies... we're getting a zombie dragon I bet!".

Where the strawberry float did those chains come from?! SHE'S THE BREAKER OF CHAINS BUT CHAINS WILL LEAD TO HER BREAKING GET IT. CHAINS.

The uncle turning up was a proper metriod "REMEMBER ME?!". Like why the hell would he even be there or know to ride in to save Jon? :fp:

I really enjoyed it though, nice to see some white scenery for a change along with some walk and talk.

Surely that dragon will breath ice.

I agree with this. Don't think they've completely jumped the shark (yet)) but the plot is just absolute bobbins.

It's like they're just making it up as they go along.

I presumed they'd taken the chains to Break the gates at Eastwatch.

Ultimately, it's these fist-pumping moments that won out for me. It's absurd to compare Game of Thrones to the artistry of a Sopranos or a Wire by this point, but it's unparalleled in terms of thrill and I will miss it very much when it's gone (in just seven episodes' time).

From the independent. Sums it up pretty well.
