PostGAME return policy

I was wondering if any of the guys that work in GAME on here (or anyone else really) could answer this.

I've been given a GAME giftcard, which is great in one way (money to buy games with) but not in an other (GAME's instore prices are extortionate).

Do GAME give you a refund in cash if buy something with giftcard?

My plan was to put the card towards Brutal Legend and Uncharted 2 but, having had a look around, it seems like their instore rrp is going to be £50......£50!

So, now my plan is:

- Buy both games instore using my giftcard and debit card

- Wait a few days

- Take them back (unopened) and get a refund for the full amount to my debit card

- Buy them online at a much more reasonable price

Possible?

No. They'll see that you bought them with a gift card.

I doubt the in-store price will be £50, it's not often I see them above £40 - the ones that are over £40 are usually, strangly, fairly niche games that ought to be lower in price in order to sell.

I'd bet good money that both games will be £40 on the day of release.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I thought (and hoped). I was going by the rrps seen on various websites along with the whole Modern Warfare 2 pricing thing.

Yeah, although GAME's prices vary from place to place, they're rarely above £40 for a new release.

As for your attempted refund shenanigans, you'd get nowhere, they'll steadfastly refuse you without a receipt and if you do have a receipt they'll see you paid with a gift card and so put the refund back on to the gift card. GAME are pretty strict about these things nowadays, which is a shame as it wasn't so long ago they had an extremely generous returns policy.

Shenanigans :D

Thanks for that Shadow. I remember Game's return policy before it got Nazi-fied. It was great.

I can see why they did it though, I'm just amazed that it took them so long to do anything about it.

The only thing that's wrong now is that the games aren't out yet :(

....I miss their 10 day rentals

We used to have 3 GAME stores in Cardiff as well so you could mix up where you did your buying and returning so it never got to embarrasing.
